Recruiting Football Talk VII

People tend to remember the catches and forget the misses. Hooker had a couple misses every game.
Difference is they were erased from memories by gaudy plays and numbers. So far Milton has had to throw into tighter windows than Hooker usually had to. I mean last year we had at least one wide open receiver on every play. We don't have the same receivers anymore.
Insanity. Receivers are open. Joe typically zeroes in on one and doesn’t see them. Many people who played football at the highest level are talking about it. Not just Volnation.

If Arkansas can get 5 sacks vs Alabama...then Pearce, Baron , Thomas, Lott, Beasley and Joseph's ...should and will dominate this OL full of 4 and 5 Star players Alabama have.... 7 sacks or more Saturday ...Vols 24-14 over the Bammers...Onward and Upward to 14-1...

Hooker was actually criticized by some in year one for the long misses. I was at the Music City Bowl, and people on here were quite critical.

I’m not going to say that Joe has been good, but he’s probably been the most scrutinized QB at UT in quite some time.
I dont think the backflips, flexing, & big smiles when camera is red helps his case. Esp with bad play. It doesnt bother me, but, when you're THAT talented, and I mean maybe the most talented player in the Country, by a mile. And you're stymied by your own boneheadedness? In Florida and APSU it was on the receivers, and they still arent playing great.

But they are getting open. Joe's decisiveness and vision are tunnel view right now. But, fortunately rest of the O is gangbusters. Campbell is a damn dude, so is the C. Wright, Small, et al...

Since JG?

The problem is Joe has all the tools on paper. Size, Arm strength, Athletic, highly rated and having the highest rated recruit (not just QB) in UT history waiting behind him isn't helping.

While all of this is true. Joe’s deep ball accuracy is atrocious. This year alone, Joe has had receivers running wide open down field and has just completely missed them.

The criticism towards Joe outside of the receiver drops is valid. When your offense is scheming passes like that wide open and you are just blatantly missing them because of how you throw the ball, it is on you.

The difference in Hendo and Joe, is that Hendo didn’t miss those throws. Joe does.

My reply wasn't a comparison between Joe and Hendo, not fair to Joe.

It was a comparison to the comment of "he's regressed" which is wrong. The difference between Joe in the Clemson game and what we've seen thus far has really come down to misses in the deep balls. He lacks timing, but some of Joe's deep balls were good throws and a missed PI or a drop is the reason they didn't hit.

Nice game to bet on tonight...

Marshall is +3.5 at home vs James Madison...O/U is 49.5...
JMU is 6-0 and in 1st place in Sun Belt conference East Division and ranked #25 ..Marshall is 4-2 coming off back to back losses to N.C. State and Georgia State..
I'm taking Marshall in a upset and taking the over...

It was gonna be tough for any QB trying to play a year after we just had our best season in decades and our best QB in just as long.

I was shocked to recently learn that there is a breed of roosters who can lay eggs. I did extensive research and did in fact confirm that there was one breed of roosters that do, in fact, lay eggs. If you want to purchase one for your own use, you will have to purchase the Himalayan breed.
My only use for this animal would be for their hackle, which will need to be pulled from the processed hyde, post trauma.

Imagine the flies one could tie IMG_4491.jpeg

Car/insurance folks:

Had a rock from one of those DA trucks hit my windshield on the interstate. It's grown and I think the windshield needs to be replaced. Safelite is nearly $900. Is it better to file with insurance or pay OOP? Are there cheaper options than Safelite or is that about normal?

You in Knoxville? Whats your deductible? If you can play oop for around the same price, that would probably be better.

Agree there have been open receivers but nothing like last year. JW was matched up on a safety most of the time and running wild. I see JM going through his progressions and all qbs fail to see open receivers, easy to do when they're running around. HH missed plenty last year or we would have scored 100 points a game.

UT's offense is not like the run and shoot or the air raid, in fact it is diametrically opposed. This offense wants to run the ball first and foremost. Yes it spreads the defense out but it is to lighten the box to create running room and make it difficult to hide blitzes and disguise coverages. The big pass plays result from teams trying to stop the run by loading the box.
that wasn’t the point….. i know that we run the veer and shoot that features the running game…. Josh likes it closer to 50-50 with a few more rushing attempts than the passing…. the point was that it makes it easier on the qbs…. pre snap reads… wide open receivers… very few tight windows.

The pita is that Milton generally only has to read half the field, but still misses the open guy too much
