Hilarious how Bama fans are mocking us for blaming the refs when they…cried and moaned nonstop about the refs after the game last year.
My boss has been crowing since Monday morning when he got on the walkies first thing at 10:30 right before our meeting, “who watched the Alabama/Tennessee game?” And who needs the score? And then proceeds to broadcast it all over the building. Of course it comes up at his and mine Morning meeting. While he was crowing, I brought up the only penalty flag for Alabama that actually helped them. He proceeded to spout off the penalty deficit last year against Alabama and how they lost because of it. I’m so looking forward to retiring.

I get that, but which official threw the flag on the "fair catch" signal? I've not saw video evidence of a flag on the field and it was never said on the broadcast Saturday night. The head official even signaled 1st down. He would not have done that if there was a flag on the field. Whoever threw the flag would have immediately reported to the head official as soon as the whistle blew.

SERIOUS QUESTIONS:
Is the booth official allowed to call penalties or just the officials on the field?

Has anyone else saw a flag on that play?

@Orange. I know you've seen different angles of the kickoff. Did you ever see a flag on that play? That's a huge question. I don't think any field official threw a flag, I think the booth told the Center judge to spot the ball at the 4 yd line without a flag being thrown.

**** I've been posting about this since 2:00 this morning and I'm running on about 4 hours of sleep. I really want to shut up about it.

He attended games and recorded the signals with a phone, matched them to the plays, and then decoded the signals. I believe in winning with some honesty and integrity, so I find it to be a big deal. If a team can figure it all out during the actual game, then that’s fine.

Edit: He also wasn’t doing it alone. He had people record the signals for him to decode.

And CJH knew nothing about it! 😉

When criticizing officials, it's best to stick to calls that they objectively got 100% wrong. If anyone on the return team waved a hand, technically the right call is to do what they did. Philosophically it's fraudulent because they've never flagged that before, but stick to calls that aren't technically correct to build a case against officials.
The no-call on the egregious personal foul after play would qualify.

Again so the plan was for us to dominate the first half?
Let me help you. Squirrel made one of the best catches of the year and Joe made an unbelievable throw. Not even replay could deny that. But they did deny us going up by 17 when they didn't call a blatant hold on McCastles. Let me help you more. The score should have been 24-7 at the half.

I find it curious no coaches around the country are up in arms. I’m guessing this is a practice not isolated to one staff. I’m sure there is a lot oh **** going on with other staffs around the country.
There are a bunch of articles out there with comments from coaches. An ESPN article has anonymous coaches. Some said it was BS, and some shrugged it off. Kirby Smart said he had never heard of a program going to great lengths as attending other games. One coach said you can get some of it by just watching the tv film. All of them essentially said everyone tries to try to decipher them in-game, but no one is arguing against that. Also, everyone universally says that it’s an east fix- to use in helmet speakers.

This is wild.
