Every team tries to steal signals. Some are very good at it. This why home teams have their sideline on the camera side of the field. Problem comes when you send people to games to scout live. It is not allowed.

I have a question about the transfer portal.
I know that it’s illegal for a college to contact a player prior to the player entering the portal.

Is there any rule against a player contacting a team that they want to transfer to? Before they enter the portal?

I know a college football player that wants to transfer closer to home (back to the state of Texas), but doesn’t want to get in trouble with his current team…

Thanks in advance. 🙏
Hey,
Anyone have any knowledge regarding this?
Thanks!

he's right. volnugs sounds like such a whiny b*tch on twitter trying to flip the UM story into the reason why we lost to USCjr. They played really well, and then our star QB got hurt, letting them finish us off. We just got beat. It makes our fanbase look like little babies screaming conspiracy. Frankly, I don't think Beamer and co are competent or clever enough to even pull this kind of thing off. You'd think they would have used it a hell of a lot earlier last season instead of waiting until the last two games.
While I agree that it's highly, highly unlikely, Beamer has been previously reprimanded for getting information about an opponent the night before a game. Michigan only did it late in the year against Georgia, UT, and Clemson. USC always plays UGA early. There is rebuttal to your last 2 sentences.

So again what/how was he stealing what any other schmuck that was in the stands couldn’t? Ive not kept up with this. Did have a mole on the sidelines with a wire? Lol.
He or his partners were filming all of the play calls with their phones and then matching the calls with the actual plays. So, they then were putting it all together to be able to watch the calls when they played that opponent.

I don't think you're actually comprehending the theory. Especially by your last statement.

The theory is not that USC was sign-stealing but that they accepted or paid for the analysis/tapes of Clemson and Vols that were known to have been taken by the Michigan crew.

I'm not saying it happened. But considering Beamer has been implicated in recieving/buying stolen intel before and the Vols/Clemson both losing benefited Michigan's playoff chances it's worth further investigation and I'm damn sure both schools will be wanting answers for what happened with those tapes.

If they are on scholarship and not in portal they cannot contact another team’s coaches. Yet, nothing stops a family member or former HS coach from reaching out or the player can contact another player at the school they want to transfer to.
So, there are lots of ways to get word to other coaches, but direct communication is forbidden both ways.
Player to player between schools happens a lot. Coaches can have a current player contact a player at another school. Many loopholes

My thoughts are we have a lot of “fans” that love to run down the coaches every chance they get.
Maybe he knows you can’t beat a better team, on the road by playing it “smart “ and conservative.
Maybe he doesn’t care what you armchair coaches that criticize the “safe and conservative” plays that don’t work,
And at the same time when he’s not conservative you criticize him for being “a gunslinger, and making “questionable decisions “.

My thoughts are we have a lot of dumb fans on Volnation.
This response is comical, filled with assumption, and deficient in reading comprehension.

Gotta love the automatic questioning of fandom when someone articulates an idea about the coach, players, or program that isn’t “we support them unequivocally, check our brain at the door, and don’t dare make an observation other than GO VAWLS”.

And by-the-way, at no point was I “running down the coaches”.

I enjoy the fact that coaches are human, have tendencies and preferences, and at times have to work outside those tendencies and preferences because of what they are working with.

They aren’t robots.
That’s interesting to me.

But to make you feel better, here we go…

“GO VAWLS! Y’all are perfect! I apologize to y’all for ever thinking anything different! I hereby forfeit my fandom! As a matter of fact, I’ll donate my life savings to NIL in the name of GVol1966 because his superior fandom deserves to be memorialized forever!”

I guess my rebuttal is "how would USCjr be knowledgeable about Michigan's operation in the first place?, and even if they did become knowledgeable, why would Michigan agree to sell the tapes, further implicating themselves in a conspiracy?" Is it possible, I guess, if following the logic of "anything is possible". Plausible though? no way.

I'm not at any of the games, but has anyone heard garbage cans being beatin'

Not saying it's true at all- just the theory. If Michigan didn't want UT in the playoffs, they could have reached out to USC to share the information with the hope that it helps USC beat UT.

49ers world is crumbling..Brock Purdy in concussion protocol.... Sam D'Arnold starting Sunday vs Bengals...

What about the players?

Players are using high school coaches, trainers and intermediaries to explore options before going into the portal. Those conversations are going on behind the scenes so players know if there are spots open at other schools.

Isn't that tampering?

Tampering has happened all along with the portal, and the NCAA hasn't figured out a way to stop it. In May 2021, a prominent high school coach told ESPN he estimated that nearly 60% of college teams were tampering in his experience.

"With one player, last season I got four calls from four different conferences," the high school coach said. "'Is he happy? They're not using him like we would use him.' These are SEC, Big Ten and some big-name schools."

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported in April that Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi called Riley multiple times to express his displeasure with the possibility that tampering happened when Addison transferred to play for the Trojans, but no tampering violations have been brought forth by the school.

Do you know any players that want to transfer to Tennessee?

Also, I do not know the answer to your question. But there has to be some back channeling going on. No idea if it's legal or not, but it has to be happening. My guess, if the kid contacted the staff of where he wants to go, they would tell him whether or not they were allowed to talk to him.

But what is the likelihood that SCjr was complete @ss prior to playing us, then looked like world beaters for two games, and has reverted to looking like @ss ever since?
