The more I see it the more I think the pushing from behind is incredibly dangerous to the neck and spine. If a defender gets under the chin of the runner with all their force and a couple 300 pounders are pushing in the small of the back we could see a serious injury.

I disagree. A student here became paralyzed when another kid pushed him hard in the back. His neck whipped backward and became paralyzed from chest down. These stories happen often.

In fairness, no one outside of various coaching staffs realized SC was cheating their balls off against Tennessee and Clemson. People thought they'd turned a corner because that's two top 10 wins. It never crossed anyone's mind that SC cheated those games because the effect of knowing someone else's signs meant they looked good while both Tennessee and Clemson looked like they just played a terrible game.
