Plus Knecht getting better and then this: Vols forward Tobe Awaka on track to play against George Mason
Elerbe leaves a lot to be desired in that department. I’ve been saying it for a while.
It’s year three and we were still rolling with Ollie lanes and Dayne Davis types for depth, and are hoping beyond hope that covid guys etc stay for a 5th or 6th year because none of the young guys we’ve brought in are close to being ready.
Yet when you express concern when we take another low ranked kid with a mediocre offer list as a commitment, the cheerleaders on this site jump on you like Elerbe is some great coach.
100%There's debate in the FCS playoffs too. Just look at how APSU and Martin have been screwed the last couple of years iirc in favir of teans with lesser records but stronger FCS conferences.
Nope. They literally developed two guys that were walk ons to guys that were impactful. But go ahead and pick on the two names you know are a “reach”. Weak
Dayne Davis was impactful?
Bruh we’re going into year 4 and were hoping beyond hope guys take covid years and come back, as well as having to potentially find guys through the portal just to field a line for next year.
Meanwhile guys like RJ Perry, Addison Nichols, William Parker, Mo Clipper, Massai Reddick, Brian Grant, etc can’t sniff the field or have already been pushed out the door.
But yeah, everything is fine. Okay
A quick google would save you some trouble:
Made his first start of the year (RT) and did not allow a sack or hit in 49 offensive snaps against No. 1 Georgia (11/18) ... Did not allow any sacks or hits in 16 snaps at right tackle in loss at No. 14 Missouri (11/11) ... Played 15 clean snaps at RT in win vs. UConn (11/4) as UT racked up a season-high 650 total yards of offense ... Did not allow any hurries or pressures in 28 snaps at RT at No 11/8 Alabama (10/21) ... Saw action on a season-high 32 offensive snaps at right tackle after starter Gerald Mincey left the game with an injury vs. Texas A&M (10/14). Did not allow any sacks, hits or pressures in the win ... Played both center and tackle in win over UTSA (9/23), totaling 15 offense snaps ... Played nine clean offensive snaps at center without allowing any pressures or hurries in SEC opener at Florida (9/16) ... Split time at center with Ollie Lane in season-opening win over Virginia (9/2), seeing action on 27 snaps without allowing a sack, a hit or a hurry as UT racked up 287 rushing yards and 499 yards of total offense.
-RJ Perry, not recruited by this staff. William Parker, not recruited by this staff.
-Nichols, Clipper, both sophomores.
-Brian Grant, Reddick, still on the team. Both sophomores.
But everyone else i mentioned, who’s been developed and who’s a good recruit, let’s ignore that?
Dayne Davis was impactful?

Yes, being stubborn and subjective is a virtue. Keep that upDayne Davis wasn’t impactful. Idc what google blurb you found.
And if the staff gets no credit/blame for Perry or Parker because they didn’t recruit them, apply that same logic to Mays, Spraggins and Wright.
I stand by it. We’re heading into year 4 for this staff and his position group is hoping beyond hope guys come back with covid years and are scouring the portal. That’s telling.
If you see it otherwise - cool. We’ll agree to disagree.
Yes, being stubborn and subjective is a virtue. Keep that up
All of this. Their defense is good, but totally overvalued.Sure... but let's look at just how good the offenses Iowa faced were.
Utah State: 27th in PPG, 22nd in total yards
Iowa State: 74th in PPG, 88th in total yards
Western Michigan: 91st in PPG, 80th in total yards
Penn State: 12th in PPG, 61st in total yards
Michigan State: 132nd in PPG, 128th in total yards
Purdue: 88th in PPG, 69th in total yards
Wisconsin: 104th in PPG, 77th in total yards
Minnesota: 116th in PPG, 125th in total yards
Northwestern: 102nd in PPG, 124th in total yards
Rutgers: 105th in PPG, 123rd in total yards
Illinois: 84th in PPG, 62nd in total yards
Nebraska: 124th in PPG, 118th in total yards
Michigan: 14th in PPG, 68th in total yards
Only 3 teams they faced were top 70 in PPG and only 2 teams were top 60 in total yards per game. Iowa played statistically some of the worst offenses in ALL of college football.
Tennessee is 41st in PPG & 17th in total yards and that's with a schedule facing multiple top 50 defenses in points allowed and yards allowed.
Tennessee's defense is 39th in points allowed and 40th in total yards given up. I think it could be a low scoring game too, but there's also a good chance that the Vols with a month to prepare and get healthy could play the best game they have all season and blow the doors off the Hawkeyes.
