I think he had a good year but he seems close to his ceiling and the guys behind him have more potential. If we pay him to stay, someone else will probably leave.

I have nothing against Joe, but he doesn’t gain anything by playing in the bowl. I’m fine if he plays but it would be a great time to play younger guys across multiple positions.

Yeah, my opinion is he feasted on poor competition. I think he had 3 sacks against Virginia and finished the year with 6. Would love for him to stay and commit to being a Vol, but not the end of the world.

Recruiting is taking a huge dip when it shouldn't. No one can argue that... Red flag IMO

At least 8 kids (?) now in the portal, mostly from the secondary? Some are good to leave to make room for better talent, but will we go get it?

The portal is FULL of replacement studs. Will we cash in or sit on the sidelines and watch like we seem to be doing now? Some folks still arguing that our NIL is strong and one of the best in the country. If we don't, Red flag IMO. I personally don't think our NIL is nearly as strong as people think. ***See other schools dropping bags and we are not, as it seems.

With all the portal kids leaving, what is our roster going to look like for the bowl game?

Baron would go to bama after 4yrs at UT?? WOW I hope not. If he does then I hope we treat him worse than TOOT, NM if he is just going to get paid. Plenty of other places to go and get paid. That's just a big F U to TN and the staff.

Lot of wait and see gonna go on in the next several weeks. I'm not sold on the positive side because I've watch Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, Butch Jones, and Jeremy Pruitt stories all start to crack and play out and show some of the same signs after year 3, so I am in wait and see mode. Not at all impressed with coaching this season.
Lost games we should not have and the way we lost some games was unacceptable with the talent we had even with the injury bug. A lot of questions will be answered by how aggressive and successful we are in the portal. That will tell me where this staff's mindset is moving forward... Championships or 8-9 wins and a bowl. Everyone else who seems to be serious about winning and elevating their program is already playing the portal game, will we?

Im frustrated by the last 48 hours, but its not the end of the world. Sometimes, the first ones to pay, are the ones that end up overpaying. I think that is what is going on. Kids are asking ridiculous prices and with those prices comes expectations of playing time, targets, etc.

I think teams are finally trying to draw a line. Heupel isn't the one to overpromise kids, either. He is going to keep in mind all the current players in the locker room and their opportunity to compete as well.

Tyler Baron 4th year guy who would be graduating if not for covid year leaves with 101 total tackles, 27 TFLs, and 13.5 sacks who entered the portal last year as well
Connor Meadows - who?
Addison Nichols - 2 years and only saw action in blowouts or on PATs
Mo Clipper Jr. - 2 years and saw less action than Nichols
Jack Luttrell - leaving after one year, must want to play now and isn't interested in developing and playing special teams
Brandon Turnage 4th year guy: 48 total tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 INT, 6 PDs
Warren Burrell 5th year guy: 91 total tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 INT, 7 PDs
Doneiko Slaughter 4th year guy: 87 total tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 3 sacks, 1 INT, 7 PDs


I mean the DBs we're losing weren't seeing the field until injuries hit and none of them had really impressive outings over their time here.

But of the 8 leaving 4 of them would be graduating if not for the COVID year anyway...

He transferred to UT……and finished at UT.

I’m good with that.VFL in my book.
You consider Hurd a VFL?

You leave, your not in my book. It’s just my opinion. If anyone disagrees…..it’s ok.
