Always advocated that the market will bear. Ohtani at his peak is unique. You’re paying $35 million a year for a top hitter and the other $35 mil for a top pitcher (that you have to await a year). I’m sure your bean counters did their gymnastics. Short term, you have elite, winning talent. But along with Freddie, you now have two elite players who want be so by the end of their contracts. So live for now and the rest of the TEAM won’t be giving out discounts come negotiation time. 😉

Buehler is next I'm sure, he won't be giving no home team discount...

That’s all we draft! Then we trade it for position players we didn’t. It’s why I draw a certain line on what should be given up for Cease. Our farm system isn’t completely depleted, but winning and competing saps it.

It’s not even Shohei the baseball player…. They are estimating the Dodgers will recoup over half the contract within the first 3 yrs of his deal. Freddie only has 4 more years on his deal…. we will see how he ages.
