My brother is a wine snob. Says Oregon is at same long/lat as France? Their soil compositions are similar, and therefore support a Pinot grape well? I questioned that because I dont drink enough French wine to compare.

I have had Bordeaux and Pinot Noir in past, but would stop at $40 for a bottle.

I do however, enjoy a Tempranillo or Argentinian wine. Love the spice.
He’s not wrong. Oregon’s Pinots have gotten better and better. Other good varietals there too. Willamette Valley especially.

There are a lot of good wines under $20-30. Just have to find them. Wife and I have been on a kick of trying different red wines that are aged in whiskey/bourbon barrels. Some pretty good ones out there and usually in the price range I mentioned.

I dont like Whisky or Bourbon. But I do like Bourbon aged beers. Ill def try the wines

I’m finally at a point in life that were I’m encouraging people to enjoy what they enjoy with no shame.

You want a $200 bottle of whatever, have at it!!

You enjoy a $10 bottle of grape bourbon or Boone’s Farm, knock yourself out!

I may not drink it, but you do you and enjoy it!
Honestly trying to cut back. Have knocked out that ugly habit formed by a newborn in 2019, all that grossness from 2020, and all the negativity from 21.

One Corona Premier in the evening quickly turns into two. just stopped drinking during the week. easy fix

We could probably finish 10-12, get blown out in the second round by a real team, and still have won nothing like we have the last 25 years.
I tried. Took you off ignore but back you go. You need to get some positivity in your life. No need to be a homer but this is such a poor mindset. Can't watch you suffer any longer.

Good for you! Always know your limits.

I still remember the 1985 season really well. We did not win the NC, but we thumped a great Miami team in the Sugar Bowl and a great Auburn team with Bo. We also beat Bama thanks in part to an epic interception by Dale Jones. We finished top 5 and came out of nowhere and many people on here remember it as well. It does not have to be a national title season to be memorable.
We won the conference that year

247 used to have a rankings for current overall rosters too.

Not sure if they still publish it - but it would account for the guys we are “keeping” too, and not just the guys we’re bringing in.
Team Talent Composite

But it won't be released till August

Went from 19th in 2022 to 16th this year..

I suspect we'll be 12th-14th in 2024. More strong 2025/2026 classes (and retaining talnet) and I'd say borderline top 10 after that, which is basically the meat of tier 2, which is where we've really needed to reach.

This staff + the talent equivalent of an Oregon, LSU, OU, etc would be very dangerous and help us move up another notch moving forward in recruiting. But it's tough to be consistently good when your talent is nearing #20 (lower end of 3rd tier). Being in the meat of tier 2 is going to be really nice. Talent on-par with all but uga/bama and that gap will be much closer.

It's relevant, to see if you know how it felt, at all, back then. It's relevant, to see if you have any ground to stand on to talk about such things, as it pertains to the balance of joy/disappointment of those years. If you were not yet born or just a young kid, why am I even having this conversation with you? I don't talk about rocket science, because I know nothing about rocket science.

This is the last ill say...after what we have been through since them days, if your not happy making the playoff, a chance to play for the National Title, then you're just a straight-up, miserable sap. I don't hold misery against anyone/you, sounds sh!tty enough without me piling on...but, that's not me, miserable about 11-2, 11-3, making playoffs, and challenging for the SEC. While 96 and 01 were disappointing, the awesomeness of being one of the five biggest swinging sacks in the land, more than healed what ailed me.

You see Bama, and think Championships are easy. They are not. As successful as UGA has been, and as garbage as we have been for 20 years, they passed us for most conference championships...just last year.
I’ve said many times 8-4 is not a fireable offense, and it will become the new norm for good teams in the SEC.

I think a lot of you conflate everything I say as an all or nothing argument. Two things can be true. You can have a fun season, and still not win anything of note. They’re both possible.
