That's an interesting fact, but not something anyone is going to remember or care about in 8 months.
And I just think the recruiting angle is the stretch of stretches. "I would have come to UT if they had the best two year stretch since 2003. But 2006? Nah..". I think if recruits cared all that much about the record of teams they weren't on, our recruiting would have sky rocketed after last year, yet it has stayed about where it's been the last decade.
And I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer or something. I'm not trying to rationalize winning. You don't need to sell me on winning. I just think in bowl games, especially now, you are better served to put yourself in a position to win more meaningful, conference games if you approach the bowl game with an eye toward next season in terms of how you manage the roster.
Being able to recruit with “hey we’re one of 10 teams in the entire country to average 10 wins the last 2 seasons” is a pretty strong statement. Nobody saying that’s all it would take but when you can put yourself in rarified air, you do it.
