That's an interesting fact, but not something anyone is going to remember or care about in 8 months.

And I just think the recruiting angle is the stretch of stretches. "I would have come to UT if they had the best two year stretch since 2003. But 2006? Nah..". I think if recruits cared all that much about the record of teams they weren't on, our recruiting would have sky rocketed after last year, yet it has stayed about where it's been the last decade.

And I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer or something. I'm not trying to rationalize winning. You don't need to sell me on winning. I just think in bowl games, especially now, you are better served to put yourself in a position to win more meaningful, conference games if you approach the bowl game with an eye toward next season in terms of how you manage the roster.

Being able to recruit with “hey we’re one of 10 teams in the entire country to average 10 wins the last 2 seasons” is a pretty strong statement. Nobody saying that’s all it would take but when you can put yourself in rarified air, you do it.

I get somewhat the FSU players opting out. It’s evolving into FSU getting the shaft in the playoffs and players wanting to get their worth or what they think. Though I support players getting played through NIL, but these are still 18 to 20 year olds minds. I’m with McGill and hate what is happening to College Football, I know, boomer, shut up, but I still remember the purity of the CFB at the time.

Agreed. I don’t care about that whole part of the conversation. If a dude got cut, he got cut. I just don’t buy that Rodgers wasn’t involved in the decision in some sort of way. He was dropping all sorts of hints for weeks about him returning and then he returns but he had no say in the decision? Doubtful.
