I absolutely believe that games with teams from Tennessee and Iowa have transitive properties.

UK and their fans desperately want to be us
Stoops seeks out recruits that UT is recruiting less aggressively and lures them to UK, then touts them as huge recruiting "wins" over UT. He loves to do this with in-state recruits, then use them for negative peer-to-peer recruiting, especially mid-state. It has been a successful strategy for him. UK also does this in WBB-- even more successfully because UK WBB has gotten TN recruits UT really wanted.

It's an interesting study. It explains where we are in culture, and it explains the disconnect between beliefs. Historically I think, there have been three major categories of philosophy in the west. Material and mind (think, Theism), material-only (Universe-as-machine, nothing more than cause/effect), and mind-only (incorporation of Eastern philosophies, the mind creates reality).

Western rational thought was founded on the first--that there is an ultimate reality to be known, and we have been created with the capacity to know it,

Postmodernism is actually one expression of the mind-only school of philosophy. There is no ultimate truth. It's just up to each of us to create our own truth, and no one's truth is any better than anyone else's. It's actually hateful to try to impose your truth on someone else.

If you think about it, that philosophy is self-refuting on many levels. But when someone has been conditioned to ignore truth, they're conditioned to ignore internal contradictions in thinking. And when they've been condition to confuse emotion with thought, you get emotion as thought.
That last sentence! That’s it! Emotion as thought…. I’m old, and most of the men I have ever been around are almost totally rational. I hung around with the boys a lot in high school because the overly emotional girls drove me crazy. They drove me crazy teaching them 5th through 8th also. Some of the posts on here were taking me back lol.

Part of it is the supposed arrogance of thinking you can have the "truth", or that our "truth" is any better than anyone else's.

Postmodernism teaches that there is no objective truth, and that all claims to have truth are a repressive mechanism used to exert power over people. Now, it doesn't take long to figure out that both statements are self-defeating.

The statement that there are no objective truths is given as an objective truth. It's claimed as true for everyone and not just the one making the claim. Thus, if it's true, then it must be false. The statement itself is a self-defeater.

Which leads to the second self-defeater. If all truth claims are a repressive control mechanism, and postmodernism is making that truth-claim, then... Postmodernism is merely a repressive control mechanism that should be discounted.

Interestingly, look at cancel-culture and you'll see how it's been used as a repressive form of control.
Explains a lot
