that bottom comment is unfair, and very sweeping. is me saying 'most sports commentators with SM accounts, are like adolescents,' also a sweeping generalization?

One thing we can all agree in is that it needs to change. Further that the NCAA will absolutely **** this up.
Well they do make terrible jokes and force laugh at said jokes

Happy Sunday for real. Hope everyone has a blessed new years.

December 31, 2023: Stay focused and centered on your relationship with Me, says the Lord. Do not deviate or entertain distractions that remove you from your place of peace. I am with you to bring you through every challenge. Be strong and of good courage. Psalm 34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

So, I know I’m a Cowboys fan, but I don’t think you can totally absolve the Lions for this. Skipper didn’t need to report but did. You usually only have one OL report, so the official immediately went to inform the Dallas defense. Therefore, he missed Decker trying to report. Bungled in a couple of ways. I’m still not sure about the formation either. St. Brown is close, but it appears there are 6 on the LOS.
Plus if McCarthy calls 3 runs after penalty, instead of calling passing plays..

Detroit couldn't have drove 75 yards in 40+ seconds..

Then this situation never happens ...

Yea, I probably would have run it on second down. But I’m not sure it was that egregious because one first down ends the game. I’m always a “go make the play to end it” guy. It was the play call on second down that wasn’t good.

I was more upset with his goal line play calls last week against Miami. You don’t give it to the FB who hardly gets carries and then late roll Dak out on first and goal.

How do you know Skipper reported? Allen might’ve assumed he was the one reporting since he was running on the field.

What makes it all worse is Campbell went over the unique play with the entire crew before the game so it wouldn’t catch them off guard.

Anyone thinking a governing body will fix CFB has not been watching governing bodies very long. I think the bowls, NIL's, and coaches have more control than governing body does.

Can't you imagine bowl sponsors will start changing their selections due to past performances by a team. That is one reason UT gets selected for better bowls. Who wants their brand tied with what we saw last night?

Because the official answered the pool reporter question by saying, “70 had been reporting all game and came over to me to report. He was actually not eligible and didn’t need to report.”

He does get more playing time in games where we have a big lead. Misleading stat. I am certainly not degrading Sampson at all. But that is simply stat manipulation to insinuate a different correlation than what it really was. Saying all that.....excited to see Sampson leave the Iowa defenders with broken ankles all over the field!
I mean he basically willed us to a win, can’t remember the game but he went off.

So it sounds like Allen assumed he was the one reporting because “he had done it all game”.

For that statement from Allen to be true the following would’ve had to be true:

1. Skipper screws up and reports as eligible and then lines up in an ineligible position.
2. Decker screws up and doesn’t report as eligible and then lines up in an eligible position and then goes out to catch a pass.
3. Goff screws up and throws a pass to an ineligible player.
4. The OC screws up and calls a play for an ineligible player to catch a pass.

Allen screwed up and is taking his only out by saying he misunderstood which player reported after already being given heads up pregame how the play would go down.

3 and 4 have no bearing on 1 and 2 because they call the play assuming 1 and 2 were done correctly. All I’m saying is that’s how he explained it.

The officiating has been abysmal this year. However, I’ve seen enough go against the team I root for, so I guess this one evened out.

Texas A&M I think. . . the one where he had a great drive in the 4th qtr. . . 5-6 big runs in a single drive.

(Sally is really screwing with me today. Post before I fixed it:

Genuine question.
Name 1 out of conference foe, not in a playoff, that could have played UGA close yesterday.

FSU before being shafted is not an answer.

OSU? OR?

I was struggling to think of a team.
I only got Oregon or *maybe* a full strength Ohio St. Those are both iffy.

We’ll never know but I do believe a full strength FSU team (with Travis) would be a toss up.

I don’t think UGA was as invincible as people think. I just think it’s just a weaker year all around.

I think the opposite on weakness. I think the problem is we have more than 2-3 good teams so you had a playoff team posing as a bowl team.

We will never know on FSU and I did genuinely hate that for their players. I just think the travesty was not voting to expand the playoff this year versus who was or was not selected. I think they all were deserving. I think UT was with Hooker too for that matter.

OR I think is explosive enough to have a chance. OSU is not. I know it’s 1 game but 3 against MO is not a good showing. Penn state also looked bad. Just like they looked all year every time they played a good team. I think the SEc bowl record will be just fine for its good teams
