FSU was a dead duck playoff candidate when Travis went down. The committee watched both backups, saw it and got it right. FSU's coaches knew it too because they didn't have a decent backup QB on roster. Their players knew it and that probably contributed to the defection count. Even Tate Rodemaker knew they had no faith in him and that's why he bailed early instead of taking the opportunity to start in the Orange Bowl.

FSU would've given Georgia a better game if nobody had opted out, but they weren't a top four or even a top 10 team with Rodemaker or the freshman, IMO.

But no one is. If Georgia played this year without Beck, what are you ranked? Bama without Milroe? Just sucks for the 34 other guys that played their guts out to have it taken by “eyeballs.” It’s a sham.

These same idiots put TCU in a year ago. I think TCU’s performance had something to do with this years selection.

Just let Vegas do it. Get rid of automatic bids entirely.

Only nonsense IMO is that they are not a top 10 team with QB2. I think they are but the Merc’s folded so it’s moot point. We can only judge then by the score of their bowl game and it wasn’t good.

I take nothing from that bowl game or any other honestly. It’s become a scrimmage for next year.

He loses money on draft position, it's happened before remember Jalen Smith from Notre Dame projected top 10-15 in draft blew out his knee in bowl game vs OSU I believe...

You seem to forget..these guys are not f'n amateurs anymore...they are professionals by their own f'n choice and that comes with obligations.

I agree about the eyeball test being ridiculous, but I think he was saying that they have always went with the eyeball test so it’s just who they think is the best 4.

Also think TCU ruining the championship game made them even more selective about who they thought would make good games.

But I think there needs to be automatic bids for champions. You need to know if you win your crappy conference you deserve the right to prove yourself. The problem was we have too many conferences with only 4 spots. And the SEC has 4-5 teams better each year than a lot of those champions. For instance last year TN, AL and LSU would have probably beaten TCU. Hopefully 12 teams will make it better but still will be some eye test decisions.

The issue as I see it is, we actually had an undefeated major conference champion get left out over two teams that had one loss and another conference that’s as weak if not weaker than ACC.

Just go ahead and get sports out of universities. Make them professionals and be done with it. McGill is right…money ruins everything.

I think CFB should be amateur, the NFL needs to have their own minor league for guys that don't giva about an education..

Rules should be..if you want to play for a college you have to accept amateur status.

I would still follow my Vols, and the mercs can all go do their thing in the equivalent of minor league baseball.

For you jerks that gripe about "quality of product"...I don't give a about that...I would follow the Vols if all they and the other major colleges had is what is now FCS talent.

Everybody gets what they want....most of us are not fans of the Vols like they are of Pro teams...it is a deeper familial relationship.

FSU that played today was in no way representative of the team that won 13 games.

Completely validates it. I thought FSU wasn’t good and Georgia was the best team in the country. That game certainly didn’t change my mind.

Are you more excited to see this Citrus Bowl or last year's Orange Bowl? Probably about the same for me. . . maybe I'm more excited to see this Citrus Bowl, but more proud of the Orange Bowl team.
