Recruiting Football Talk VII

Yessir, thank you. I skipped that page. Sorry.

I would request an ultrasound guided steroid **** in that hip. If the labral tear isn’t big enough to require surgery, the inflammation associated with the tear can essentially keep it from healing (too much of a good thing is bad scenario).

I perform this injection for my surgical partners frequently and with typically good responses.

If steroid injection doesn’t last long enough then try a PRP injection. Make sure that any hip injection is guided. I personally prefer ultrasound guidance over fluoroscopy guided.

Hopefully this helps. 😊
Yes that’s very helpful! So one last question then, the tear can heal itself? The nurse seemed to indicate that it can’t. Thanks!

Last night's results have given me some pause. I have definitely been on the "recruiting rankings matter more than coaching train" and while I still believe recruiting is a massive factor maybe it is not as important as I thought.

Per the 247 talent composite: The #14 Michigan took down #1 Alabama and #26 Washington beat #6 Texas. Last year, #32 TCU won over #13 Michigan. Obviously, more data is needed, but it will be interesting to see if this trend continues.

Anyone know who is #9 for Tennessee on special teams? (Not in the box score or our roster.) He had a penalty for running into the punt returner that gave Iowa the ball on the 25 YL instead of the 10 YL.

Michigan is above the national championship talent threshold

I believe that we will be on this list in 2024

To your point, development is still huge, and having a great QB is a difference-maker

Because of Nico, our window is now open. 2024 and 2025 seasons are our opportunity to make the 12 team playoff. I hope that his showing yesterday convinces the whole program to get on board and ready to take the next step. In the immediate sense that means upgrading WR and possibly adding another stud RB asap. Linemen always wanted as well.

These windows don’t open often and we need to take advantage now.

The CFP games last night was the vision College Football had when this system came about...

Two very competitive games going down to last minute, great for College Football..

Even though I'm all in on the 12 team expansion, Im afraid we will tune into some snooze fest blowouts like the Georgia vs FSU games in coming years...

Jmo..

As always Go Vols..

Won’t look like Georgia / FSU if the playoffs don’t suffer the same kind of opt-out attrition (and if they move portal entry to the off-season).

The gap is definitely a bit smaller. Transfer portal helps for sure.

My understanding is that today, January 2nd, is the last day to enter, but more names may be added to the list through the week as applications are processed. They have to have the paperwork submitted by today, but the NCAA still has to process it.

And grad transfers can enter at any time. The window doesn't apply to them.
It's five days after the end of the game for the late December and January bowl games. The portal will be open from 1/3 - 1/13 for players in bowl games from 12/29 through the championship on 1/8. UT players will have to enter this week.

This is why CJH has been talking about seeing who enters the portal in January. This could be a chance to pick up higher-potential players who could be difference-makers.

Absolutely can heal. Takes a while. It has the ability to heal.

Factors associated with not healing or prolonged healing:
Uncontrolled diabetes.
Alcoholism
Tobacco use in any form
Poor nutrition

Consider taking supplements to aid in healing: zinc, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C. Make sure she has adequate protein intake as inadequate protein intake is also a cause of slowed healing. Particularly in women and vegans.

Ideal methodology. Point is, he took quite a beating for the chutzpah you’re stumping. And it’s most likely Championship Or Bust with an exit to the NFL…or ESCAPE. That’s sticking it to em!
None of that matters…

1. He is Guilty
2. He still gets to play for a NC
3. His punishment will be millions of dollars in the NFL or millions of dollars at Michigan( I really hope he stays so I can see if the NCAA has the balls to do any real punishment)

Let’s look at history:
1. B Pearl lied about a hotdog….. 3 yr show cause compared to F Haith paying players…. paid a booster to lie to the NCAA…. gave inconsistent statements to NCAA( also known as lying but worded in a way that didn’t end in a show cause)… He received a massive five game suspension as he ran to Missouri where he committed more violations and received new letter of allegations so he immediately leaves to become Head coach at Tulsa. He was not punished for the missouri issues.

2. Bill Self wore a shirt mocking the NCAA….. held an event with stripper poles and had snoop Dogg shoot fake money into the crowd…. won a championship

3. Auburn won a championship… no repercussions

4. NC won multiple championships with no repercussions.
I could continue on and on.

i am all for integrity in sports but i am not going to falsely believe that it happens… i am also for any school that tells the NCAA to shove it… Not many schools have the guts to follow through with it.

Just saying there will be blowouts...I agree no 60 point games , but definitely a 21 or more difference....

Basketball and baseball seasons are going to be much more sweeter to enjoy after that blow out of Iowa and the obvious proof of The Chosen One (TCO) on the scene. Heup has answered any material concerns I had for the direction of the program. It was also obvious by play selection, which was more plain vanilla than it will be, that TCO could do anything asked of him. As an example, look at how few bubbles were called. That is no disrespect to Joe, he is a different type of QB and VFL, who did a very VFL thing by supporting TCO and the team as he did. As expected and I posted last week, I have a tinge of regret that TCO did not get the opportunity to start Day One. However, I trust Heup made the decision he felt was best for the team and program overall. It is obvious that TCO was fine with it.

I still want to see the D results against quality offenses. That will be the defining point on Tim Banks. However, I am encouraged by the improvement in handling assignments and their performance overall. Iowa was not a major test, however, there were no large scale mental breakdowns or overconfidence like we have seen in the past. The younger guys took care of business like professionals. It seemed to rub off on the older guys. That is what I am really excited about as the loser stench is finally leaving the program and being replaced by winners who do things the right way.

Danny White and the Big Three HC's are simply outstanding. The future is blindingly bright for Rocky Top and us as fans as a result. Much appreciation to Randy and Donde for making it all happen.

I am the perfect example of what not to do on a message board. I did not watch a single Pac 12 game this year with exception of Colorado losing their first game. This means I should not comment whatsoever about their conference. I was wrong about Washington. They’ve got guts and I hope they pull in a Natty next week. On the same token I watch almost every SEC game. So, I know a lot about our conference, and I was 100% correct about Alabama. They are who I thought they were. An inconsistent team with an inconsistent quarterback. The improvements that they made in the second half of the year were all created by the media in your minds. The Arkansas and Auburn games told us they were the same team as the first half of the year with exception of running their QB more. They were lucky to catch Georgia in an off game and I’m glad they did. Otherwise, we’d be watching Georgia win their third consecutive national championship. It all worked out perfect. Go, Huskies!
