Pickens, Peerless, Stanley Morgan and TD Woods
I met TD Woods at the Pilot truckstop in Corbin Ky a few years ago...I usually don't bother people like that, but he was getting gas on the other side of the pump and he had on official looking Vol clothing...so at first I just said "Go Vols!" like I do to anybody wearing Vol gear..and he started a conversation, as we were talking I noticed his button down shirt had "Thomas Woods" monogrammed on it...so I asked him if he was THE Thomas TD Woods, and he chuckled and said yes...so I had a total fanboy moment and started talking about how much I appreciated him and that he was one of my favorite VFLs.

I got a selfie with him, but it's on a my old phones mini SD card at home..

Cool story bro moment for me..he was an awesomely nice gentleman...a great ambassador for VN.

Hi, I can tell by your post above that you are new around here. 😇

VN is not known for letting anything go. There are routine posts missing Bruce Pearl and kiffin. The statute of limitations is up on those two guys, hoping they will fade away. (I am an optimist, not a “realist “) 😁

To ask a poster to let go of their obsessive thoughts about this season that just ended is about as likely as having a fluffy unicorn 🦄 trot up to you…😂

Pickens is number 1 to me and it’s not close. I know others have their opinion.
That one year he played both ways is one of the greatest Vol memories I have...he led the team in INTs with 5 as a FS if I remember correctly to go along with all the great catches he made as a WR.

I still rank that as one of the greatest individual Volunteer season performances...there aren't very many players in the last 50-60 years in CFB that could do what he did at the high level he did.

Hyatt had a great Junior season no doubt, but he isn't even in top 10 in career receptions at Tennessee..

Anthony Hancock who played when throwing the ball wasn't top priority has more career receptions than Hyatt..

Hyatt may have had the best season ever but others had a better career..
I don't give a damn how many career receptions he had...he had one of the greatest, if not THE greatest WR single seasons in Tennessee history.

I don't judge.
Idiot..😏

Zone defense in the bowl game got our rush end a pick six.
Agreed. Zone defenses with personnel running them right are great. When DBs see someone in their zone and come up and cover them Zone works great. What we had for most of the year was DBs allowing receivers to make catches in front of them without contesting the throws.

People saying Banks is wrong because of so much Zone etc just don’t know the game. I mean how many times did we see our DBs in cover 2 and then they let a pass into the shallows get completed and pick up yards. It happened all the time. Our DBs were liabilities for the most part this year.

The Citrus Bowl showed what our Defense can do with competent DB play.

Pickens played a lot more at safety that year than WR, iIrc. Everybody forgets about Matk Jones doing the same thing. Of course, Pickens could have done it better, more size, better athlete, but he only got one year as a Safety. While Jones only got one year at WR. Still, those 2-way players will always have a special place in my heart

It also showed what we can do against one of the worst offenses in college football. Shutouts are impressive anyway you slice it, but Iowa is horrible at offense

January 6, 2024: Do not underestimate the power of My presence and My ability to intervene in your life. Allow Me to take the lead and direct every step you take. I am not a myth or a legend; I am a real and powerful being that you can interact with and trust to help you through every dilemma you face. Put your trust in Me, says the Lord. Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

That end of half for the Steelers was about as bad a mis-managed and poorly executed sequence of football I've seen... Just terrible.
