Maybe. Or, maybe we're targeting 3, to get 1; or, targeting 3, to get 2. Idk. Heupel or Elarbee say they want all 3? We give out hundreds of scholarships every cycle...can't land hundreds of players. If we land all 3, great!!! I'm good right now landing the versatile Kansas kid. Now, if we miss on all 3, that will suck. I won't bellyache about it every other post, but it will be a huge bummer. With Mincey leaving, we need more than one. That's why we were targeting 3.
It's crazy to me that some ignore what the coaches are doing. If we see they are targeting multiple OL, it's reasonable to believe they see it as a concern. That isn't some made up crazy fan BS. We know there are two open spots on the OL. Yes, it's possible some of the underclassmen develop and start, and I've mentioned that more than once. But there is clearly a reason the coaches are looking to the portal for OL. They're not doing it just for the hell of it. They're trying to address what they see as a potential problem. IMaybe. Get the Kansas kid, he can play multiple positions across the front. Also, I haven't forgotten we have other OLinemen on the team. I try not to brush them off just because they weren't ready to play...on the offensive line...as Freshmen or Sophmores. Seems so many here feel that just because a Vysen Lang or a Masai Reddick or an Ayden Bussell or a Sham Umarov couldn't beat out an Ollie Lane or a Dayne Davis this year...it means they're a wash. Maybe it just means they couldn't beat out 23, 24 year old men (both having been in college, and college S&C, for a combined 11 years) as 18,19 year old kids...again, on the offensive line. Doesn't mean they won't be able to 8 months from now, after another year in S&C, and the system. I have total trust in Elarbee's development.
Plus, Jackson Lampley looked VERY GOOD in the bowl game...graded out better than all the other starters, including Mays, by a fairly wide margin. He comes back, another check in the plus column.
And, it's crazy to me that some don't understand eggs in one basket. Yes, quite possible we want all 3...again, absolutely possible. Also possible, we put all our eggs in Heard basket, and don't even say hello to the others...Heard goes elsewhere, the others go elsewhere, we're fked. We put all our eggs in the Pounds basket, don't reach out to others...Pounds goes elsewhere, others go elsewhere, we're fked. So on and so forth. Absolutely, sure, maybe they want to land all 3, idk; but, they have to know, that's not happening...especially with a guy like Heard, and all that's been said about what he's looking for. However, they have to reach out to all 3, gauge their interest, speak to them. Just like they know, whenever they send out hundreds of offers every cycle...they know they can't sign hundreds of players. It's crazy to me that some ignore what the coaches are doing. I get what you're saying, but I really think the coaches want two OL. A RT and a LG. Reed-Adams has the versatility to play either. I think this staff would like to land one of Pounds or Heard to play RT and that would allow Reed-Adams to slot in at LG. Based on what they're doing, I think their preference is at least two, though yes, we would take all 3. If we miss on both Pounds and Heard, it'll be interesting if they target any other OL.And, it's crazy to me that some don't understand eggs in one basket. You say, "ignoring what the coaches are doing"...didn't ignore them whenever they were "doing" Dingle, and scheduling a visit...then Staes came available, no more Dingle. Same could be said here, maybe...reach out to 3 or more, bring them in for a visit, first 1 or 2 in the boat, no more of the others.
Again, would LOVE to land all 3...however, I've been very confident that is not going to happen; and, if we can only land one, I want the Kansas kid more than the others, and I'm feeling good. Him, added to the class of OL we have coming in, added to what we have.
I can agree with that; although, it looks to me like they're looking for a T/RT more than anything...all 3 can play T, not necessarily G, however (except Reed-Adams).I get what you're saying, but I really think the coaches want two OL. PFF sucks and Lampley was pretty average. He is a depth piece and not a starter in the SEC. We need all three portal players and the coaches will take two more OT’s on top of the Kansas transfer because that’s where our offensive line is at right now. Hopefully, next year we have built some depth with the young linemen and aren’t scrambling every year for linemen from the portal.Maybe. I'd be willing to bet we'd take all 3 if we could sign them. Perhaps I'm assuming that the coaching staff is operating with a sense of urgency to take the fullest advantage of the next 2 years with a guy like Nico? Injuries have plagued us on the OL. Plus if we can upgrade at some starting positions along the line and the guy is a good fit, do it. This has always been business, but now it's clearly that. These players want to be treated like professionals, well, this is how it goes. You're always looking for better as a coach....or we hopefully are.I get what you're saying, but I really think the coaches want two OL. A RT and a LG. Reed-Adams has the versatility to play either. Sadly, I think it's really just the Kansas kid and Pounds. Pretty clear where Heard's head is. That ship has sailed IMO. If Ole Miss gets Pounds, I'm not sure where we go for the second guy. Could be another season where we are at the mercy of the football gods and injuries.PFF sucks and Lampley was pretty average. He is a depth piece and not a starter in the SEC. When I hear of a parent losing a child, my heart breaks. I know that pain. There are no words from man, but only God's tender mercy and love will get your family through this. Lean on him and remember that he knows your loss and your pain at a level that we can't understand. They will be in my prayers.Just got home and my sons wife lost her baby Josie at 31 weeks. We are at a loss for words. His wife did not think she would be able to get pregnant or she was told as she continues a thyroid cancer battle and everything was going really well. A little VN prayer or a thought today for that little girl and the family if a moment.

I think they will keep looking but they want some new ones for spring to get rolling.Sadly, I think it's really just the Kansas kid and Pounds. Pretty clear where Heard's head is.
