I know I am very late to the party here, just getting back on after a week of meetings.

I am part of the older crowd on here (+50)--- where are you guys going/how are you generating these AI pics? Pretty crazy... Are you going to Bing and asking it to generate a pic of your Avi from volnation.com? I see some asking "sally"? Sorry I am sure you all have already gone through this, but interested to see what would happen if I did it with a "bama" part on my member name... Thanks

He owned us with Hooker because his talented DBs were allowed to maul our WRs to mess up timing while the line was good enough to stop our run game. Smarty Smart even said this with a grin on his face. It wasn’t some exceptional scheme that out thought Heupel.
Yup. Any defense that can stop the run / get pressure with 4 AND has elite press man corners is going to be a disaster to go up against, regardless of scheme.

It’s not like Heupel’s offense got figured out lol.
Please both of you rank Kirby as a defensive play caller or coach. Separately, why have other teams played them closer? Can't both things be true? I love all of you, but people love some absolutes. Even if we say Kirby is a mediocre play-caller, and it is ONLY his talent advantage, how do we beat them? They have better in-state talent, better recent history etc. I think Heupel has played better against equally good talent. I do not think he has schemed his best against Kirby.

Ummm... no

I own a carpentry business building high end residential wine cellars

Lots of wealthy people south of the border

Don't hate the playa, hate the game

And for what it is worth, I built a cellar for a certain former TN Vol and Denver Broncos super bowl winning quarterback that I cannot mention his name per the terms of the contract

Shady enough for you?
Are you trying to infer that PM is into shady dealings in Tijuana?

Any team that is going to upset UGA at this point will have to do so with lesser talent. Zero discussion or debate. That may soon be true of teams like Texas too. We have to have a schematic advantage, or we will be 10-2 making perennial excuses for the gaps. IMO the gap is closed by QB play. We all seem to believe we have one.

Like em or hate him he unlocked something Richt never did and Richt had perennial talent. I think Kirby is to defense what Heupel is to offense. Many people here are unwilling to see excellence outside our program. Saban may have had all the tricks in the world, but he's the SOB that unlocked them. It wasn't the dudes before him at Bama. Plus he did it at LSU too. If Heupel is going to be like those guys we better unlock some of this bs we claim the other teams have.
Richt probably had too many ethics preventing him from implementing the Bama_Model.

Did Kirby win immediately with CMR’s players? Was there not an immediate increase in buying even better players that got GA sick amounts of talent to match AL? He does know how to organize a roster and game plan. But he’s always had superior amounts of talent at AL and GA.

All good defense in sports is known as super physical. Better players are the best at hiding / getting away with it.

I have no problem with how they play D. We should do the same. It’s equivalent to our bball team’s defense. You’re gonna get mauled/held but they can’t catch nor will the refs call them all.

South of the border, like what? Georgia.

Or you mean the Sinaloa/Gulf Cartel controlled areas of Cancun/Baja?

That’s exactly what started this….the absolute. You stated CJH had to win now to ever reach Saban/Kirby. The point is both of those had advantages of having the most talent than other teams even though they are good at managing that talent. CJH has not even gotten to a good two deep yet and suddenly he absolutely has to win this year, or he will never be a good coach. Disagree. Watched Fulmer build a team. Takes time.

He's been in the area a long time. He has some info. People dislike his style and pile on, but he's like most of us, just working to live. I listen to him less than others, but I do find that he will say things that seem to bear out that the official mouth pieces of the school are not allowed to. Just my 2 cents. They all sensationalize now.
He’ll latch onto a wild, abstract fan conspiracy like it’s a nipple powdered with crack.

So where’s the scheme?

We used to do that back in the 80s..we would hop over the fence at the ramp and go in there and throw a football around...we usually got chased out by security guards after a few minutes, but they never caught any of us..

Thanks for the reminiscence..brought a tear to my eye, one of my partner in crime cousins that I used to do that with died this week and he was a huge Vol fan..he was only 51 😥
Sorry to hear that, Everett. My condolences.

I'll own that

If building $125K wine cellars in $5million - $45million houses on the regular is your definition of shady business, who am I to argue?

I make sawdust and it pays the bills. My cross to bear
It was just a play on words man. Cellars are dark, shady...

No need to flex your success for people on the internet, even if they were legitimately criticizing you and not just trying to make a silly pun and a comment about Tijuana's reputation.

But especially not if they were just making a silly comment about Tijuana's reputation and a lame pun.

I don’t like local media bc they act like they know how to run a program better than the people who are having success running the program. The funniest part is when they question things on offense. They love to sell the doomsday scenario.

But I’ve never listened to Hooker. Might try his pod out.
He is funny in a low key monotone kind of way. Cooper was doing the pod once a week with him during the season which was an interesting listen. There are worse Vols podcasts.

By "act like they know how to run a program better" I assume you mean "criticize the program". That's their job. And it's a job someone should have. It doesn't mean they are right. And the thing is... Most of the articles have been right over the course of the last decade because our AD only recently stopped being completely incompetent. The cycle I've seen here over three different firings is:

1. Local media criticizes the football program.
2. VN buries them in hate.
3. Criticism is proven correct. Everyone fired.
4. VN accepts the original criticism as true, still hates the local media.

Doesn't mean you accept everything they say at face value. I'll use Blake Toppmeyer as an example. His article on our dogwater football staff refusing to take a Covid pay cut. Great article. Then a year later turns around and says UT is anti-patriotic for canceling the Army game. Dumb article. Not that hard. But media holding the AD accountable is important.

So where’s the scheme?

I can link some articles but are we really questioning Kirby’s ability as a defensive mind?

I’m not saying he would have the same success with our roster. But acquiring talent is part of the game. He’s good at it. And that definitely gives them a built in advantage.

I wonder about the under 5 and over 45 crowd. Are they just to go cellarless?
