McGill hates the idea of CFB giving up the facade of amatuerism. He's been one of the biggest proponents of the old model and was against NiL from the start (to his credit, MANY here were).

He'll either accept it or move on to watching UT intramural football at this point. It's inevitable. Hope he comes around...I think he may be slowly accepting the new reality.

I'm with McGill. I want College football not to bascially be a full on Pro sport. Not as interesting.

He hadn't signed anywhere when he contracted with Spyre. That's the point, he could've signed anywhere and Spyre would've had to find a way to weasel out of the contract after the fact or just eat the bad deal. It was a risk they were willing to take. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, those are the facts. I'm sure there were extremely high hopes he would come to Tennessee, but he wasn't contracted on condition that he attend any university.

How do you know he signed before he came to UT? And how do you know the contract doesn't have an exit clause for spyre?

It may be a long process, but as soon as the injunction is in place, there isn't anything they can actually do to us until the case is over. And they are going to lose the case.

Gotcha. So the 247 guys were saying that, as of right now, the NCAA is losing big in the court of public opinion, which I think we can all agree that they are. So their point was in order to try and curb that, we should expect the NCAA, IF they have anything on us, to start leaking some “accusations” to mouthpieces like Forde.

If I’m understanding you correctly, no one at the university level seems to think they have anything. Thus, whatever may be thrown out there in the coming days (and if nothing then silence probably speaks volumes for the NCAA’s case), is most likely still the NIL/Spyre stuff and nothing on say Heupel or another program coach?

Coach Heupel goes out of his way to make sure he doesn’t have violations. At high school games, kids will come up wanting selfies and autographs. He will ask them if they go to school there if they look like students and if so, he will apologize and say he can’t because of NCAA rules. He’s that careful. They knew they had to be.

We are literally fighting for our lives now; that's not hyperbole. If they win, and are allowed to hit us with a LOIC...while I don't believe they'll death penalty anyone else ever again, the sanctions that will be levied against us will cripple us for a decade or longer. Loss of more scholarships, bowl bans, and ineligibility from playoff. No one will want to play for us. We will be screwed.

As you said, it is us or them.

My son is a senior in high school and been going with me to games since he was 8. Played basketball and baseball in high school and loves sports and the Vols. Was with me as we set with Trey Teague and whipped Bama. Said his best sports moment ever. And that’s after a CG game 1 hitter last year. If NCAA wins and puts us on a crippling probation, he said he will be done. Can’t support a body that is like the NCAA and all college sports will be dead to him. We’ve got to win or else the program will never recover until the NCAA is dead.
