I quit TOS, but was Simms ever on the 1st list of names? They had said they would not get to an extended or revised list, but it kind of seems that way. Not hand wringing just curious.

Ok, Why are they bigger names? Because they happen to be at Oregon/TCU?
Partly, yes. Both are more successful programs. They were supposedly at the top of the list, and both are at schools that could competitively bid with us to keep their services. Cincinnati isn't going to compete with us bidding wise. Hence my question if money/salary might have been an issue.

ok

I am not a part of any worry circle, but I think it is fair to ask if we fell past our first choices. This guy seems solid, but nothing we'd be worried about if UGA or Bama hired him. No judgement, but skip the homer bias also.

Very fair assessment imo. If you read his bio all of his teams have had strong production. If you read his recruit list it is pretty ho hum.

The question becomes if it was ho-hum because of where he was. And it's a fair question. Yes, he was at Louisville at one point, but neither Louisville nor Cincinnati are considered recruiting powerhouses. Does coming here allow him to recruit in a higher tier? Possibly. Only way to know is watch and see.

so sounds like this guy was like 4-5th on the list and doesn't look like he has recruiting experience at a high level...........................yay. This isn't moving the needle IMO. While others in the SEC are upgrading, we are... well, just filling a spot it seems. Guess we'll see...

I am not knocking his recruiting, but guy was not punching above his weight class either as best I can tell. What he did do is get production. He is not an intern either so I like he has very solid experience. None of it at places I would imagine have great NIL offerings. I would describe this as a very blue collar hire.

Perhaps recruiting to Tennessee will be much different than recruiting to either of his previous stops. Maybe wait to assess?

99.1 the Sports Animal has Jimmy Hyams and John Pennington on today. They were talking about teams winning % at home versus away. He threw out the stat that the VOLS basketball team have a home record of 26-3 over the past 2 seasons. I wanted to call in and say "Guess what the common denominator was in those 3 losses?"......
Screenshot_20230211_180431_DuckDuckGo.jpgIt's not a coincidence if it happens every time he shows up. It's intentional.

I'm not worried at all. I haven't really heard of him, but he has a decent performance resume.

I'm putting trust in Heupel's & AD White's culture. I've seen a lot of people perform far past expectations simply because the work environment was excellent compared to previous jobs.

He also has some good talent to work with, not to mention the elite facilities and support staff. I expect he'll have the best results of his career while here.

Sure. Not knocking this hire at all, but I ain't texting my UGA relatives to rub it in either. Very meh IMO. Sure he will be great.
