I rarely watch him, but it has been very interesting watching Pawl change his thoughts on this case. When it first started, he was like Forde and company. NCAA gonna whack TN good this time. Then he started having lawyers and people like Adam Sparks on that all told him the NCAA is going to lose bigly. He continued to rail for rhe past couple of weeks about Saban needing to step in and become some kind of grand poobah of CFB to save it. Then today happened.

He then kept saying the NCAA will obviously appeal. Guest after guest today kept telling him there was no reason to appeal unless they deliberately want to sqander more $ or just be obtuse. Three different people told him the only thing the NCAA has left is to plead Congress to ignore Gaza, ignore Ukraine, ignore the border, ignore the 24 election and come put the NCAA at the head of the line and save them (which they invoked in their response).

One guy even told Pawl that him and his generation need to grasp that things have changed today and it is never going back. You could see Pawl's face kind of go more pale than usual. It has been highly entertaining and not having to listen to Jim, Iman, or Legend calling in has been an added bonus!
To be an alumni he sure likes to see us suffer and doesn't seem to want us to succeed. I can't stand that guy, he's a bammer to me, thru and thru. To me he's one of the media that roots for our demise. I didn't have the good fortune to attend our great state university, but I am a Tennessean, and that is my school. Even over the last 15 years of wandering thru the wilderness I never had any less pride in my Tennessee Volunteers. That man is a Benedict Arnold and deserves to be tried for treason. Rant over. Sorry, I got all riled up.

I agree with that one guy though, things have changed and the old guard might as well get used to it. NIL isn't going anywhere

The NCAA trying to wave their **** around talking about trying to now punish school administrators and presidents and then immediately losing this lawsuit so they can't even enforce their own rules is funniest **** I think I've ever seen. The absolute height of misplaced arrogance.

What an absolute bitch slap lmao.

I think it will in a sense of what a premiere athlete demands in NiL. That won't matter if some college absolutely wants a certain player and is willing to just dump whatever it takes to get them. That would be outside the norm, imo (maybe 2-3 athletes a year could demand that type of investment)

I think it comes back to what a "sponsor" or school is willing to pay for a particular position. I think it'll correct itself to an average cost per position. $800k-$1.3m for a QB as an example. I dont think we see too many people dumping $2mil+ on a player if they can get another similar quality player for half that. . . unless they are convinced they just absolutely have to have that particular player. There are a lot of schools and only a few really elite players, so maybe it does stay very volatile.

I could also see the top 15 or so athletes demanding ridiculous numbers and then see a market correction for the rest.

I dont know if we'll ever seen a correction for player retention though. What is someone willing to pay a national title winning QB who has a year of eligibility left? What is someone willing to pay to steal them for a year? That could be a lot of $ and it could vary a lot from team, position, need, etc. Then again, given enough time, it probably could correct itself as well.
It is going to get stupid, and I now think this has always been inevitable...there were always just poor dumb schmucks like me that were hoping that one good thing would not be completely ruined by money and greed.

These guys and gals don't play for us..for TENNESSEE...they play for themselves and money..

Like I said earlier...it is what it is. I will stomach it until I can't anymore.

My problem with the NCAA is and always has been not about them defending the right to enforce amatuerism...it is because they are a corrupt bunch of sock puppets that use rules and rules enforcement to selectively promote some while holding down others.

At least I get to watch them burn to the ground....at least I get that much.

Yeah, I have zero problem with the NCAA in theory. In reality they're a corrupt, uneven organization that needs to be declawed.

Same. In theory, the NCAA is needed. A governing body to keep the “win at all cost” schools in line is a good thing. The reality of it is, though, that the NCAA has practiced selective enforcement for fifty years or more. Too many examples to count where they’ve hit the little guy over the head with a sledgehammer and let the cash cows go with little to no punishment.

No. Tracii Guns would form LA Guns the same year - 1983.

LA Guns & Hollywood Rose would merge 2 years later in 1985.

The band in the photo is really just the original Hollywood Rose lineup by an earlier name - the simply went by “Axl”

That’s Chris Weber with Izzy & Axl
Crap
I saw LA Guns….after GnR was formed. Very underrated band.
