I’m sorry sweeping the worst team in the conference isn’t making me feel like we just won a super regional.

I’m going to disagree with your disagreement with me.

We’re 11th in ERA nationally. Everyone’s pitching sucks. When being that high makes you feel bad about where our pitching is, it says more about what Frank and Tony have been able to set as a standard than it does about where we actually stand in reality.

That said, pitching does have to be better by tournament time.

I’m well aware of the ERA statistic that has been floating around. I’m not saying our pitching sucks, but I’m still not at the point where I trust this pitching staff outside of Beam. The talent just isn’t there, and usually talent is what steps up and carries you in big moments. Beam is great, but Causey has had some shaky starts, and I can’t say I’m a complete believer in Sechrist even though he’s been better lately.

When you go from a rotation that had Beam, Dollander, Burns, Tidwell, Lindsey, etc. these last two years, to what we have this year, I worry when the lights are the brightest some of these arms facing great offenses are going to crumble. I think Beam is the only guy I truly trust. I still am of the belief this team’s ceiling is reliant on whether Russell ever gets back healthy or not.

I get it’s a popular meme around here to say I’m overtly negative, but this is pretty retarded. Everyone’s acting like I said we suck when that isn’t what I said at all.

I agree with this, but I take solace in the fact that outside of arkansas and Kentucky.. somewhat.. no one has elite pitching this season.

We could very well have a college World Series reminiscent of pre BBCOR at the old rosenblatt stadium. 15-12 type scores all over the place.

This weekend has been a big reminder to the uphill battle we were facing in talent last year. The junior class was almost non existent and what was left of the seniors were hard workers who were loyal to UT but not the top end talent required to for championships
