Yes, in fact. I love them. Like Bison or Elk burgers best.

I grew up in JC. The best burgers were arguably made by the Kalogeros'. Or, if you wanted to slap Steve Spurrier's brother five at the Horseshoe...good burger.

Gary has passed, but the Son's and Grandsons now run... View attachment 641200
Bacon, Gouda, and Fried Egg. Lettuce, tomato, and Red Lettuce. Little Mustard, ketchup.

However, best is 👆🏻 Gourmet and Company. Benton's bacon, cheddar, and garlic aioli.

Runner up is the Drunken Goat at Label.

I ain't paying $26 for no burger and fries. Robbery.

This pretty much hits the OBX high points
Almost 10 years, we stayed in Corolla. It was a trek because it is on the very northern end, but it was a fun week.

On that end, you can drive on the beach, which is somehow cool. The interstate ends, and the beach goes for maybe 8-10 miles. If I recall, there is a gate at the Virginia border. We saw the wild horses up there, too.

It was late June, and I realized the water is much cooler up there than places further south.

Yup, Whataburger to Texans.

The fast food burger chain never lives up to the home grown adoration.

I understand the sentiment of it being home, but for me it’s West Tennessee’s BBQ. Not a fast food chain…
I remember when I was a kid visiting relatives in Ft Worth (only family “vacations” we ever took were when a relative in Texas died, sad but true) they would go on and on about how much better whataburger was than anything in Tennessee. So as an adult I was excited when a few were opened here in TN….. it’s basic fast food not much different from Burger King or sonic.

It must just be me though, because they assured me every time I went there, or they came here, that EVERYTHING is better in Texas 🙄

Thanks for all the suggestions!
Good luck. Last tip I use is to check vrbo. They have condos, houses, etc. Not saying don't use another site, but it gives a good cross section. Whoever suggested Folly that is a great place to start for OBX. Lastly, don't go to Myrtle unless you want Pigeon Forge with seagulls.

Anyone have recommendations for the OBX? My wife and I are mountain over beach people, but my daughter really wants to go to the beach, and OBX looks like a good compromise for us. Looking for somewhere moderate price wise, but not too crowded. Any tips appreciated.
Awesome place my friend owns, on an amazing island, you have to take a ferry to get there, but it's worth it, the island is known for its wild horses and a hang out of the pirate Blackbeard. Pony Island Inn & Cottage | Top-Rated Hotel on Ocracoke Island
