A man goes to a psychiatrist wearing nothing but plastic wrap.

The doctor says “I can clearly see you're nuts.”

Much better than a @drvenner joke.

What's the definition of happiness used in this study? How was it measured? Are you trusting people are self aware enough to self report?

I hate graphs like this that act like they've answered an incredibly complex question when they almost certainly haven't.
Don't know the data here that backs up the graphic. But it does conform with information I received in school (Psychology) and elsewhere. Part of it is the old Maslow hierarchy. If you don't have enough money to cover your basic needs, you are stuck there. And, common sense applies. Once you are set on food, housing, etc., happiness increases. As for slight decreases when you have oodles of money, I could only speculate. More money, more pressures?

On May 30, 1806,

Charles Dickinson, an attorney from Nashville, TN, and Andrew Jackson engaged in a duel on the Jeff Burr farm. The quarrel between the two men began as comments were made by Dickinson about Jackson’s wife, Rachel. Part of the argument also related to Dickinson accusing Jackson of cheating on a horse bet. Rachel’s first husband, Lewis Robards, petitioned for a divorce, accusing Rachel of desertion and living in sin with Jackson. Robards failed to finalize their divorce, but Rachel and Jackson, believing the divorce to be finalized, eloped in 1791. Rachel and Robards divorce was not finalized until September 1793, and Jackson and Rachel remarried in 1794.

After the insult to Rachel and a public statement in which Dickinson called Jackson a worthless scoundrel and coward, Jackson challenged Dickinson to a duel. On May 30, the two men met at Harrison’s Mills. Dickinson’s first bullet hit Jackson in the chest. Jackson’s first shot misfired and, according to the code duello, he should not have been able to refire. Re-cocking his gun, Jackson fired and killed his opponent. Although Jackson’s wound was not fatal, he suffered chronic pain from the wound for the remainder of his life.

Jackson was not prosecuted for murder and the duel had little effect on his successful presidency campaign in 1829. Dickinson is buried at Old City Cemetery in Nashville.

200k in house hold income goes well beyond basic Maslow needs lol.

You seem to enjoy falling all over yourself to defend a lot of opinions not popular here.
Sorry for pointing out a...fact? The 2 are based on different parameters...just stating a fact.

I get most folks are probably just having fun with it and all. Just figured I'd provide some context for those that genuinely don't see the difference in the awards.

More money definitely equates with more happiness up to a certain point. At that point, even if you have significantly more money, your happiness level doesn't increase. It even decreases at VERY high levels of income.

I always remember this from Before Sunrise.

Ethan Hawke's character says lottery winners tend to less happy than average folks and the cut-off before diminishing returns was around 70k/yr (Maybe individual and not family? Not sure). That was also the 90s, so I'm sure it's closer to your graph around 250k now for a family/2 earners.

Prior point remains - a lack of money is a part of unhappiness - but loads of it won't do squat.

Same in the workplace. More money doesn't make employees happier. But being paid less than market/inequitably will have a negative impact where people feel they're getting screwed over.

Gosh I cringe every time I see them. It's so gross. I wish I knew some atm fans to see if even they can't watch it.
I don't like Texas and OU in the SEC but A&M and Mizzou are still even worse. A&M is like if Scientology created a university and started playing football. Just weird creepy cult stuff.
