Our water heater went out in December and I've had 3 leaks in the supply line since I replaced it (all within 4' of the water heater). It's old copper lines that's been in since the 70s and the solder has been leaking in different joints. I cut the last old joint out tonight. It was suppose to be a 10 minute fix, that took me an hour. I've got $50 worth of materials in a 4' run of copper pipe. 😬

Why are Shark bites so expensive!?!
just ripped out last little bit in our master bathroom, replaced with PEX. ill be damned...

It's been a pain in the butt. I should have swapped to pex when I replaced the water heater but everything was fine for a couple of weeks. The new water heater is a little taller so I don't know if that is what messed with the lines. The week it snowed, was the 1st time it leaked (the water heater is in the basement). I replaced a 90 degree joint and the one below started leaking a month later. The hot water hook-up has been a slow drip since April but it finally went bad in past couple of days.

Our outside spicket is leaking now. I've got to fix it tomorrow. 🙄

has something caused the water pressure to change?

Just the new water heater. It's taller than the old one. I think the age of the pipes and the height of the new one put too much pressure on the joints. It's all new ..... now
I would still check the pressure. Leaks happening out of the blue in different places like that could be a sign the pressure is too high. If you have a pressure reducing valve, it could have gone bad.

I replaced the reducing valve 2 years ago. I think I weakened the joints when I put the new one in. I'll keep an eye on it but every joint that I would've put too much "force" on has been replaced.
