Eh. Would have preferred them actually throwing some flags considering how badly we dominated the LOS. It felt like I was seeing blatent holds all night.

The PI no call in Squirrel was insane. Like someone said last night, hopefully the ref standing there saw it was caught and didn't bother.
He had his hand on the flag and chose not to throw it

Nice payback for Hadden after last year's performance. He still talks too much..I know DBs gotta talk, which I don't mind IF you can back it up. 5 often does not.

He often does, actually. Wes Rucker describes Hadden the best when he says 95% of what he does is correct and fantastic but the 5% is so wrong and bad that it makes you forget all the good.

Officiating is what it is: there is no repercussion for bias, and the networks and conferences want close games for higher ratings and revenue. Schools submit detailed reports every week and they discuss it on their calls, but there is no resolution and big money speaks loudest. With revenue driving everything, the networks are in control, conferences aren't rocking the boat and bias is free to become blatant.

The defense had a few inexplicably great games last year (Kentucky, LSU).

If yesterday can be who they really are and not just a one off, it's all in front of us this year. We won't just out score people this year. Especially with the inexperience at WR we are about to see. But Bama and Georgia are completely beatable. Every team we play will have deficiencies as large or larger than we have.

I thought the same. I also thought they need to throw the flag regardless, because the rules make no allowance for catch or no catch. Throw the flag. Give the coach a chance to accept/decline. Announce. Spot the ball.

Unless this is another shorten game (more commercials) rule change?
maybe but the catch was never in question…. just a formality either way.

Hope Leacock can impress during the bye. He’s the big-body type missing now with Bru out.

Also impressed with the OL play last night. Mays proved his value. This Heupel offense has to have a stud at Center to communicate and let everyone know what’s going on.
he was over the ball before it was even placed

The way the refs called the game definitely benefited scar bcuz their oline was holding more, but I do feel they at least called it that way for both sides. Improvement from the UF game where there is clear bias
