You can cut in the recruiting services all you want but you look dumb. Are they perfect? Not even close. Do they miss? You bet they do. But here is something neither you nor anyone else can refute. The teams with the most high 4 and 5* prospects win more at the highest level.
The whole “oh stars don’t matter” has been debunked. It’s funny. I bet you were extremely excited when we got Nico. A big time 5*? You get excited for the team when they sign highly rated players that teams like UGA, Bama and OSU were after right? Wonder why? It’s because of the same services you are dogging.
They don’t matter. The stars themselves do not mean anything at all BECAUSE all 4 stars aren’t equal. Neither are 3 stars. Why why why can’t you see the issue with this?
Those teams are getting good to great players and have a system in place that helps them succeed.
You and others are making the simple mistake of equating stars to actual talent.
Look at the USC Trojans and all of their success the past year- (hint they were average)
So why was Georgia and Texas so good, but USC average?
USC had a bunch of 4 star transfers that proved why they had to transfer when they got their chance at USC. They were average to just plain bad.
But according to your logic- USCs defense should have been stout because they were loaded with 4 stars.
I’ve said this to you 10 times over the years. Why do you struggle with this statement?
YOU SPEAK TO GENERICALLY ABOUT STARS
1) Many guys get ranked high because of their offers. Or they looked amazing running around in drills. This protects the integrity of the recruiting scout by aligning his rankings with elite offers- mind you in this situation it was the college coaches that evaluated first.
- The problem is coaches cast a wide net with offers, so some of these rankings (4 star) are going to guys that are really just being recruited but not priority.
Answer this: why does USC have RB commitments from two 3 stars for 2025? Lincoln knows offense! It’s because they are great players both.
In summary:
Recruiting gurus hand out stars to make money off of the work already done by college coaches.
So Texas and Alabama have “high ranked classes” because they are the best schools and have recruited the best players that want to play there - THEREFORE- they will get ranked high by services.
It’s okay to be excited about Star rankings. But you and others have gotten dependent on that and use class rankings by the elite schools to justify your… incurious, non researched point of view
