Recruiting Football Talk VII

We used to have one of these. It was the other half's father's but I was the only one that could get it to work and after he passed away it pretty much became mine. IDK how many of you know much about the railroad but watches are approved and very special there (you can't show up to railroad work with just any watch). This was one he'd been given - handed down amongst some of the workers who'd kept time. Sadly the fire took it just like everything else. We also had another Elgin that had a more modern face. The sidewinder (below is one like it) was over 100 years old and thought to be broken but you just had to know a little bit about old clocks and watches to know how to work it. Particularly, that it winds a special way.

I've been being really mean to them on social media lately.

There was an old dude behind me that kept repeating the same crap. A literal broken record.

"C'mown make a play joe, make a play!"

Everytime we started on offense.

EVERY incomplete pass "Put the other guy in!"

The int's "he sucked a Michigan and he f'n sucks here"

ALL GAME LONG

After ran for a first down this lady across the way said something about him being slow and I said "yeah his knee is definitely still a little hurt and she looked at me with this maniacal look saying something like "well maybe he just needs to be on the bench" she was so hateful saying it and slowly turned her head away"

It's bizarre redneckery
Don’t expect a church service to break out in an environment primed for drunken revelry.

Dislike. We shouldn’t be booing our own players. Fans should fix it. Stop booing. We’re 4-1 not 1-4. The reaction to this season by our fanbase has been dumb, and it’s not a good look for recruits either.
And even IF we were 1-4, we still shouldn't be booing our players.

Fans forget they are there to be cheerleaders, not execution judges all of 4 games into the season...smdh

Either cheer on your team and create a positive feedback loop or go root for someone else.

Sam Pittman is probably in big trouble at Arkansas. I think he survives this year regardless but he's 2-3 and got at Ole Miss, at Bama, MSU, at Florida, and Auburn coming up. Could easily be 3-7 or 2-8 at the end of that stretch. Also ends the year with Mizzou at home, but they're looking like a decent team this year.
Love Pittman and we should ring his phone for quality control if they ever let him go. He could teach Elarbee a lot. Also think he would be a good cultural fit.

Booing College players is ridiculous..what I hear now is they are getting paid now... what a joke these players make chump change compared to professional players...Social Media is a cesspool of miserable fans who don't have the courage to say this crap they spew ..to players or family face to face..

The game should be tough but I have seen Heupel take Stoops to school two years in a row. The 2021 win was a thing of beauty when you look back at how depleted the roster was on that team.
Offense was rolling in that game...I'm sorry, but I have no confidence in this years model to produce big numbers against good-great defenses, especially on the road.

We are too one dimensional...any team that can force us to win on our passing game is probably going to win....especially on the road.

If Joe starts playing in real games like he reportedly performs in practice...we will be tough to beat anywhere by anybody....but that is a HUGE if.

No their QB isn’t good again. They’re the same one dimensional team that they are every year.

Leary went 15/29 for 205, 1 TD and 2 INTs vs Vandy. Followed that up 9/19 for 69 yards and 1 TD vs FL.

But it’s on the road so who knows what’ll happen.
Welp...I thought he had played better than that. He sure hasn't lost them any games...but according to that, we could win if we can stop their run.

Hopefully the run defense from the Florida game doesn't show up.

Here is a fun fact TOP 3 MLB payrolls in MLB..Mets, Yankees and Padres and none of them made playoffs..oooopsy daisy...
Every year there are teams that “win” free agency sweepstakes and every year those “wins” produce squat or are gone by the trade deadline. 😴

It’s very possible to note items without allowing them to influence every individual whim and impulse. McGill is a Bass level good poster who equally panics and throws his arms up in the air with the slightest provocation. Both a football season and recruiting in general is a lengthy process which is never all or nothing based on one or two developments.
Lol..😂

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Some of these officials will do anything to steer the game towards the outcome they desire. There has always been a certain level of incompetence in officiating, but it feels like the number of blown calls has shot up as sports gambling has grown more and more popular. The missed calls have become so obviously intentional that it’s not even funny.

Devin Leary has been BAD so far and they haven't played any good teams except the Gators who are just okay.

57.7% 1129 yards 10 TDs to 5 INTs

Florida was the first game he didn't throw a pick in...but Kentucky is a team that if you allow them to run the ball it's going to be tough always. Stoops wants to dominate TOP and will run it 30+ times a game if he can.
It seems like he is playing better than that overrated garbage mayo boy from last year....but you're right, that is not good.

I'm what you'd call an optimistic realist... I want/hope we win every game, and in quite a few I can point to ways we CAN win most games, but I also live in the "believe it when I see it" world.

I wanted us to win in the Swamp and felt like had we ran the ball well and generated pressure we could have won. Didn't do either and thus we lost.

I want us to win in Tuscaloosa, but with how officiating is it's going to be a big time uphill battle. Ideally the way we win that game is repeat what we did to LSU last year and get up early and fast. Force Bama to need to make big chunk plays in the passing game while we're getting pressure without blitzing. If they want to try and run it, just limit the big chunks no big runs of 8 or more and let them milk away the clock or take chances in the passing game with no clear ability to do so in their QB.

But that game isn't as important as the A&M game in Neyland. We have to win these matchups at home and that's the next big test.
I love the fandom arguments between who's more realist than anyone else. (Not at you, by the way.)

If fans were truly being realistic, we'd all admit that it's a game, played by kids and young adults that we will probably never meet, and unless we've bet diaper money on the outcome it won't have deep affect on any of our lives in the things that'll truly matter.
