I’ll just say Queensrÿche is probably the best of the 80’s metal bands imo. Operation Mindcrime is eerily applicable today.

Never considered them to be a metal band. More of an 80s big hair sound but with a little more edge. It's kinda like some referring to Nirvana as punk along with Black Flag. They're just wrong IMO. When I think metal, I'm thinking Sabbath, Pantera, Priest and the like. GWAR is a clown show and not even worth discussion.

Most put queensrÿche in prog metal. A lot of people consider them the fathers of that genre
