Nirvana killed metal but then Kurt killed himself and rock hasn't been the same since then. The market is there for a rock n'roll band if anyone has the talent and gumption. In fact, it's starving for new content.

When either a band, producer, or both figure out that the genre market is still there and demand is still there but there's no product but old product to sell they're going to make a fortune. People are dying for anything that fits into that very broad category.

I honestly miss the variety we had in the 90s and early 00s. Now it's hip hop or country or old stuff you've listened to a billion times before.

Actually quite a bit of good rock bands out right now....especially if you prefer the heavier stuff. Octane on Sirius XM is a good place to hear new hard rock and metal.

Our Last Night, Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Shinedown, Bad Omens, Bad Wolves, The Plot In You, Falling In Reverse, Fame On Fire to name a handful. Weezer still putting out good stuff and so is Cage The Elephant. Dirty Heads still pretty good too.

Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch and All That Remains and Slipknot were all fantastic up until about 5 years ago.

posted in the pub but figured I would ask here too. Is it worth it to go through townsend on the way to Knoxville from Gatlinburg or should I just take the easy way. Looks like almost double the time but thought about eating at the Abbey for lunch and taking the kids to the caverns

Metallicaā€™s success was bc they were sell outs and it was glorious. I had a friend who was the biggest Metallica fan i have ever met. When Metallica started out they bragged that they werenā€™t like these other bands. They played their own soundā€¦ would never be a slave to corporateā€¦ never make a music video bc thatā€™s not who they were. Soonā€¦. they made their first videoā€¦. My buddy was hurt but eventually recovered from that lie.

In the early 90ā€™s it was reported that the bands from the eighties were done unless they changed their look and soundā€¦.. The majority told the record companies to F off. Metallica did notā€¦. proving itself to be the biggest sell out of them all. šŸ˜‚
