My thoughts on Dollywood after a 25 year absence:

Blazing Fury and River Rampage haven’t changed a lick.

People actually pay $32.99 for unlimited soda refills.

I’m too old for rollercoasters.

Tattoos have become a status symbol for poor people no offense.

They overcooked my pumpkin pie funnel cake.

The bar for attire is pretty low these days but don’t wear your gym clothes to theme parks.

The bald eagles are still rad.

I dismissed all of this when you said you ordered a pumpkin pie funnel cake. 🤢🤮

Read this the other day.

Seems relevant here. Analytics supports going for two.

Analytics or not. . . they tried to explain it. It was a terrible choice at the time. Why not kick the XP and when you wanna go for the win, just go for 2 when you score the next time? Leaves you with more options at the end.

Either way, it was a terrible choice, especially since they missed it and were forced to go for 2 if they did score again.

I lied. I gave it a listen now because I was curious. Yes, it’s got bluegrass under tones while giving that rock vibe, sorta like southern rock. It’s something I’d listen to when I get off work and enjoy, cracking open a cold beer and relaxing. My harder stuff I listen to at work to get me focused, everyone there hates it. 😂.
Thought you would like it.

Did you ride the lightning rod?

I saw a comedian short that killed. He simply said:

"Shout out to the girls who get full sleeves, but don't fix their teeth."

I am bringing an Aggie friend to the A&M game

He was generous enough to pay every dime to take me to Aggie in 2016 for our OT loss that day. Returning the favor

He was with me in Knoxville in 2004 for Vols win over FL and said that night, "Loudest stadium I have ever heard..."

Known him a long time; good friend

Call it 'sleeping with the enemy' or whatever. Going to be a great weekend
I hope we are very, very loud and send every cult member home knowing our stadium is much louder than what they have down there on their compound.

My first time ever last weekend. Had a blast. The Rampage looked ancient, but turned out to be my kids’ fav. The newest Big Bear Mountain was no joke. First real coaster I’ve ridden in > 25 years probably. Too old for that, but was fun with my kid.

But sooooo much money.

if everyone returned that has an extra year we’d have to be East favorites next year

Vol fan’s favorites to win the East or people on tv who predict these things (not that they matter, just asking)? Bc no analyst is gonna pick UT to win the East when UGA is right there and we’ll be breaking in another new QB.

So you had a great visit..

I kind of hope Florida beats Vandy this weekend. We need Sunbelt Billy to do just well enough so they don’t fire him.

Florida has had better results since 2010, but the difference between us and them for the past 12 years really isn’t all that great. Teams have been pretty meh and taken advantage of a weak east and perennial easy OOC scheduling.

Muschamp, McElwain and Mullen all got run out of Gainesville. Mullen was the best of the three, finishing top 10 twice, won the east once, then had one bad season. McElwain was terrible as his career since then has reflected. Muschamp is solid but limited and wasn’t ready for that job. History suggests new coach would get 2-4 years tops.

If Napier gets fired UF will probably be paying him and Mullen. The roster is not in very good shape. No QB. Schedule is rough. Admin and boosters angry. Gonna be a tough place to win and not one that will be real attractive for a top tier coach. We’ve seen first hand how this spiral goes. So I’m on board with Napier getting canned because I think it makes UF more dysfunctional and don’t think a new hire will be any better.

MORAN INVITATIONAL GAMEDAY BREAKDOWN

Undefeated (5-0) Big Newts Bootybrows (@bignewt) goes on the road to play SoilVol (4-1). BigNewt has been browbeating the competition this season, but had a nailbiter last week with his lowest offensive performance of the year.

Week 1: 137.4 - 97.9 W over @Garren04
Week 2: 167.06 - 135.8 W over Big Gucci Sosa
Week 3: 161.22 - 89.8 W over @Brillovol
Week 4: 180.56 - 138.32 W over @volbeast33
Week 5: 127.82 - 127.38 W over @Tennessee Golfer

SoilVol has had a solid start to the season and is sitting at 3rd overall.

Week 1: 138.44 - 124.2 W over @ReadCT
Week 2: 160.78 - 96.62 W over @drvenner
Week 3: 98.78 - 133.04 L to @franklinpence
Week 4: 164.4 - 160.96 W over Big Gucci Sosa
Week 5: 145.42 - 92.16 W over @volbeast33

Newt has scored 774.1pts for an average of 154.82 ppg. Soil has scored 707.8pts for an average of 141.56 ppg.

Star players out for each team today:
(Newt) Washington QB Penix #5 overall 35.4 ppg
(Newt) App State RB Noel #14 RB 18.9 ppg
(Newt) Oregon WR Franklin #3 WR 19.5 ppg
(Soil) Memphis RB Watson #6 RB 22.2 ppg

Based on the starting lineup average production, BigNewts team is expected to score 149.1pts, while Soil is vying for a major upset with 185.6 projected points.

Key matchups for each team:
The QBs - Soil's Brown (USF) taking on UAB (122nd against QBs). Newt's Hartman (ND) against Louisville (76th). Both teams need big numbers from their QBs.

The RBs - Newt fields the #1 RB in the country with Jeanty from Boise State. He averages 30pts a contest and matches up with SJSU... the 128th team against the run. Jeanty should FEAST today. Newt also has Henderson from Ohio State who is out today injured (but still in his lineup). It appears he will have to elevate Mockobee (Purdue) who averages 10pts a contest versus Henderson's 16. Purdue faces a stout Iowa defense (19th against the run).

Soil's Corum (Michigan) is a consistent producer. Michigan has put up big numbers this year but Corum could have a tough test against Minnesota's 27th ranked run defense on the road. This could also be an interesting game for viewers. Louisville's Jordon has put up some big performances this season, but struggled against NC State last week. He faces a Notre Dame defense today. Ott (Cal) has the toughest test against the 4th ranked run defense of Oregon State at home in a classic PAC12 After Dark matchup (10pm ET).

The WRs- Soil's M.Washington (UVA) has a good matchup against William & Mary (150th). UVA should use their best player early and often seeking their first win of the season. T.Washington (USC) always has an opportunity to make big plays with Caleb William's as his QB. They face Arizona today.

Newt will need big games from Ole Miss WR Harris against Arkansas (87th) and Rice WR McCaffrey against UConn (118th) to make up for the loss of Franklin this weekend.

Defense and Special Teams -
Both teams own the best kickers in the country right now (Fresno State and Texas A&M).

Newt has opted to field Texas A&M's defense against Alabama (79th offense) at home. Soil is starting Oklahoma's #1 defense on the road against Texas's 18th ranked offense. These are both huge contests that could impact this outcome.

And now, old man @Ulysees E. McGill will pick a headgear to put on....Screenshot_20231007-103355_Samsung Internet.jpg

Coaches believe in this stupid process now ..just play the damn game ...going for 2 was stupid .....

I haven’t taken my kids to Orlando, but Dollywood and Silver Dollar City in Branson are bargains compared to Disneyworld, etc. Legit coasters at each. We went with a big group a few years ago on the Monday after the Mississippi State game, and I’m pretty sure the group price was about $55 per person.

We really need to move the FL game later so that it is AFTER the point the reptiles "throw in the towel, his players give up, and their season collapses"

You will hear no disagreement here. I hate how early that game is every year. We always catch them at the WORST time. Maybe with the expanded conference next year we’ll have a chance to catch them later in the year.
