I mean it is not that Phelps or Serena didn't have any competition, they just were that much better. Same as Tiger. Isn't that kinda the point of the list?

Name a great ladies tennis player in the Serena era other than Venus early on. There were none. Nobody anywhere close to one of the all-time top 10 and Venus is toward the bottom of the top 10. I would argue that she should have an even greater stranglehold on the record books with her 22 year career and lack of competition.

Steffi Graf has nearly as many Grand Slam titles and more weeks at #1 in the world. Serena was great but her accomplishments don't trump what her 3 male contemporaries achieved while battling each other and other very good men players like Andy Murray. I guess I respect what Serena did less because she had nobody in her stratosphere, she was rarely tested and forced to overcome much in-match pressure. Yet her overall achievements are comparable to Graf who did have much more competition.

Phelps is a little different scenario because of all the world records he set, Olympic domination and absolute domination of other very good swimmers. I still don't agree with him at #1.

And Tiger was doing things we've never seen before until injuries changed his career. His run was magical and he did it going up against other greats. Level of competition has to count for something.

I'd say you'd have to give it to the only gymnast ever so good that the sponsors of all her rivals got together and had the governing body ban the stunning move she invented because no one else could perform it. They said it was too dangerous, meaning, one might suppose, that they thought anyone else who tried would hurt themselves.
Who?

Disclaimer: I realize that it's just summer league basketball and most of the guys playing are either 2nd or 3rd year guys trying to break out, recent draftees, G League players, end of bench depth or guys who probably never see much real game action.

That said.....Dalton really is looking like he is going to continue to elevate his game to the competition he plays and be a high level NBA player who is immediately in the rotation and probably starting eventually as a rookie. He stands out as one of the best and most consistent guys in every summer league game and against better competition than he typically played in college.

I hope he stays healthy because he is looking like he is probably going to have the best NBA career of any Vol in history if he stays healthy. I can't wait to watch him this season....first time that I will watch regular season NBA in two decades and nearly a decade for the playoffs.
Alan Houston and Tobias Harris had/have had good careers. Dalton can be special.

Don't understand how Djokovic is behind Federer and Serena. He's the GOAT of men's tennis now. If they're going to rank a tennis player that high he should be No. 2. He's got more majors than Serena already and is still playing. He also racked up most of his majors while competing head-to-head with Federer and Nadal, who are generational talents themselves and would be considered the GOAT if they weren't all three playing at the same time.

My long-winded points summed up very nicely. Novak is the best ever and had to do it against the 2nd and 3rd all-time best. He just lost the Wimbledon final pretty handle but would have been the oldest to ever win it....I think he gets it done.

I hate to say it.....but if Serena was not a black woman then I don't think she is put above any of her 3 male contemporaries without having a legit challenger during her career...certainly not all of them. She is fantastic and broke barriers in a mostly white sport but any all-time great list should be based on accomplishments alone and not have race factored in. None of that takes away from her greatness, she just had an easier path to said greatness.

Birmingham gave Mizzou and Old Miss the easiest schedules for a reason? Who has jumped over us in rankings and hype?
People expecting the good ole boys system to go away need to reevaluate their expectations. The only way they go away is when they are called and held accountable for them. Going along to get along is defeatist.

The Titlers are garbage at personnel decisions and rode DH hard and put him away wet for years. He gave his all for that org and did everything right as a player and a person from what I can tell. I hope he wins multiple SB's anywhere else he goes to further prove that the Titlers don't know what the heck they are doing and amazing players don't have a prayer of sniffing a championship by coming to Nashville under the current leadership. I used to be a huuuuuge Titans fan but they have just utterly run the thing in to the ground and continue to make questionable decision after questionable decision. Good luck the DH!!! He deserves success after getting used up in this org.

Peak Federer was better

Novak has beaten Federer nearly every time they have met in Slam play. I would have agreed 10-15 years ago but Djokovic has surpassed all his achievements at a younger age.

Novak took his lumps from peak Federer and Rafa but eventually surpassed them and accomplished things neither ever did, more than once. And Novak surpassed them both while they were still within their prime.

I do think Federer's 11 Slam victories from 2008-2011 (might be slightly off on that time frame) was the greatest 3-4 year run in the history of men's tennis. Imagine how any of the 3 of them dominate the record books if their careers didn't overlap?

Ok, but the Titans had one of the best RB's in the past decade on their roster and did very little to put all the pieces around him to actually do anything with his talent. Other teams could tee off on him and he was still able to beast out. Give him a better OL and a QB with slightly more than a pulse and that offense could have feasted with DH in the backfield. Tell me I am wrong and explain how exactly.
