Yeah I’ve never understood. Only thing I have is the Mets. Vols, Titans, Preds, NSC. Basketball, I enjoy watching players more than rooting for a team

If you grew up in the 70s and 80s in Knoxville, that's the norm, imo. I'm a Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Cubs and Vols fan

More than that, I abhor Charlotte, Nashville, etc.

My grandfather and father were Cowboys, Lakers and Dodgers fans family thing..does it really make a **** what professional teams anybody pulls for..??

Maybe Maddux just really always sucked and nobody knew it...

Which is absolute pure ...look all I know is he got squeezed and it was obvious, you can't make me believe he just suddenly lost control every October....the freaking umps suddenly decided to change what they called balls and strikes when he was pitching.

As far as John Smoltz goes...Smoltzie was a power pitcher, so that didn't bother him and pitchers like him as much, it was devastating to a finesse pitcher like Maddux.

And as far as answering that question, I've already said right off the bat...I have NEVER understood it.

Believe it or not, this was for fun discussion…not deep seated argument. I’ll bow out.

There were no Tennessee teams when i was growing up… i couldn’t stand any team from Georgia bc i hated Georgia…. i also hated bandwagon fans…. Everyone around me was a Braves, Yankees, Cowboys, Celtics, Lakers fan…. The Steelers, Dodgers, 76ers were teams that could challenge those teams back then so i started cheering for them and been a fan ever since.

I was a Braves fan when I was a kid because that was the team on TV every night in the small Texas panhandle town I lived in, and I liked Dale Murphy and Bob Horner....the Braves were the worst team in the National league most of those years.

Cincinnati and Atlanta were about equidistant from me in East Tn. I chose the Reds because of the Big Red Machine. But for some reason, most seemed to choose the Braves.

TBS...that's why most of us southerners that ended up Braves fans back in the late 70s and 80s....it was either them or the Cubs(WGN)or Mets(WOR)...and I ain't no damn yankee.

Grew up about an hour south of Atlanta. Moved to East Tennessee in Middle School. We were (except my brother) Georgia Tech fans until the move then got hooked. Don't follow NFL, NBA, WNBA, LGBTQ, or MLB, so its UT football, UT basketball, UT baseball.
