This time of year can be very deceiving if you put too much stock in score, stats and rankings, I trust my eyes more. Most teams would be hard pressed to put up our offensive numbers against air and the defense is plain nasty. Oklahoma has been playing their starters for at least three quarters, I've had to refer to the press guide to know who most of our players are in the second half several times.State is now outside of the top 40 (zero total AP votes) and in the 70s in the FPI.
The way've struggled vs bad opponents has me thinking they maybe just aren't very good at all, at least rn.
That said, don't think OU is very good either (yes I'm skipping past Michigan, don't care about em). Only 4.8 YPP offensively lmao. And yes our defense is also giving up more than a yard per play less than theirs. If we can handle the night road environment, they might walk off with their tails between their legs by mid third quarter and asking about shortening the clock.
Football is a game of match ups, and OU does not match up well with us. We are uber versatile, talented, and can match up with any style. Listen to the people who know and will tell the truth, ex-coaches, ex-players, and professional gamblers, they know we are nasty good. Believe you me the people who know and keep quiet, current coaches, are scared as hell.
