First off, I do have concerns about the o-line. The common denominator against the two good defenses we've played is the tackles and if Heard and Campbell can't get it done then it will be on to plan b.
Your original statement was not reasonable it was the lunatic fringe kinda comment, basically it was we can't hire Pitman as pur new o-line coach because we saved his hide by losing to him. Having concern is perfectly normal reaction not the Queen of Hearts off with their heads nonsense. If every coach that the lunatic fringe hired or fired we would in big pile of mess forever.

Pittman is probably out at Arky and there is no rush to fire him as his successor is already on staff. They didn't bring Petrino in for nothing, he had to be rehabilitated.

Talent was never in question. Sounds like effort is the problem.

These college football players are still young human beings. They are vulnerable to the same things as the rest of us. I am not saying I have any inside information about why he is playing the way he is. But he could be battling issues. Emotional stuff. Homesick. Problems with a girl. Depression. Not love playing football but feeling pressured because it is his $ ticket. Who knows. I don't think he has regressed because of the coaching he is getting. That wouldn't make sense when it seems obvious that it is an effort issue.

Disappointed that there hasn't been a Milton hurricane strength pun on here that I've seen. I get that we're all depressed, but we can't let softballs like that go unrecognized.

I saw a few the other day, I made a joke that Floridians should beware (paraphrased) - Milton can throw a whole orange grove.

Guy on Nashville radio made an interesting observation and opinion.

Perhaps Heupel has overestimated the in-helmet comms as it relates to getting Nico ready presnap. The defense shows one thing then changes it immediately after 0:15 seconds on that play clock and now he’s second guessing himself because these comms have become a crutch.

Hadn’t thought of that.

Seems like a relatively simple way to overcome that is if a team is doing it, snap at 15 when they are changing their look. Just play the mental game there. I assune that's only happening on 3rd down when we slow it down. If we are too reliant on the comms that we can't a call in from the sideline to audible, and Nico is ready to read the D and audible himself then we need to fix that.

I agree. He's not regressed and he's got all the talent in the world. It's effort.

He played very well the first 3 games. Arguably our best OL in those games. Tweaked his ankle and suddenly out vs OU 2 days before the game and didn't travel. Rumors circulated about money and/or agent telling him to hold out for the injury, likely the details of each rumor are wrong but on Saturday night the effort wasnt there.

Either he was still severely limited by the injury or it was a deliberate lack of effort and investment to the team. At the end of the day, we need that to be fixed, and if it's fixed the potential success of the entire offense increases.
