As a former WR this is killing me. Slot and outside is not that big of a difference, I used to think slot was actually easier due to being off the LOS and not have to worry about being jammed in bump and run coverage. A good WR eats in the slot or outside, not like playing slot diminished one’s skills. Thornton need to step up, no excuses. If you believe that you didn’t watch the games. Couple that with not understanding the offense and slowing down Heupel’s up tempo scheme, it was a disaster. WR weren’t good because our best one got hurt. Thornton was out of position. Squirrel didn’t show up and Keyton regressed. Milton was not and is not a good QB and hurt us last year when he couldn’t complete a 5-15 yard pass.
milton was a good qb, not great. his biggest problem was following HH. Milton tried to rely on his arm too much. Instead of using the whole playbook, or allowing play to develop and knowing where to go he tried to force the play. Too often a play would brrak down, then he's react. HH knew when to run, ans when not to run.If you believe that you didn’t watch the games. Couple that with not understanding the offense and slowing down Heupel’s up tempo scheme, it was a disaster. I would call Tony a great passing QB who could run very well. His feel for the game was incredible. At his best and healthy, I’d put him up there with any QB in UT history.Tony Robinson was a running Quarterback that could throw it too. But he was a great running quarterback. Being behind only Holloway and ahead of Shuler and Dobbs as the top running Tennessee quarterbacks in my opinion. GBO
