Recruiting Football Talk VIII

The more I think about James Pearce's forced fumble it makes me remember another #27 for Tenneseee forcing a Gator fumble on the goal line in 1998. Both plays were touchdown saving in a game where points were a premium. Hopefully the offense this season can gain some traction like that Tennessee offense did in the latter part of the season.
The defense in 98 really carried us early on and was the impetus of the team all year.

Get this all over twitter.

Btw, I know some people have said neyland was loud for this Florida game, but I did not think so. I was there, and dang near everyone was quiet from early on. Only got moderately loud on 3rd down, hardly any on 1st or 2nd. Maybe it was just because I was in the upper bowl? I’m hoping we’re louder for this game. I think we’ll need to impact the game at least on 1st and 3rd downs in order to have a good shot at slowing them down enough to keep up if the oline doesn’t miraculously start playing a whole lot better this week than they have the past 3 games.
It was loud but it was apprehensive loud. This week I think ir will be bonkers loud.

In a year with this elite of a defense, an SEC with no clearly superior teams, and a clear path to the playoffs (with a deep run!), we cannot be our own demise.

Heup knows the greatness that’s available for this team if they simply execute as he knows they’re capable of doing

a lot to ask? Maybe

But you have to seize the opportunities that are available to you.

I can only hope that maybe the Arkansas loss and offensive struggles will catapult this team to their potential.

Maybe not.

This team has all the potential and honestly a path to the playoff semi-finals, if not more.

Correct me if I’m wrong, it came across loud at points early and in the 4th but a lot of it it seemed quieter than ideal maybe because of a nervous energy? I’d like to see our crowd keep that noise every single time Bamas on offense regardless of the score or what is happening in the game, it really could be the difference in an L or W is what appears to be a pretty even match up
Well there are different kinds of loud, Saturday the crowd was hopeful loud but unsure. I think this week you’ll get fu loud and go home deaf loud.

When I was a teenager in a small town in GA, my cousin was a year older than me. He was a decent guy, but was a pretty loud mouth, cocky guy. I think that got him on the wrong side of the local sherrif that just didn't like him, so he made extra effort to make my cousin's life hard.

Finally, he gave my cousin a ticket for speeding when he wasn't speeding. My cousin took it to court and actually made the sheriff look like a liar idiot in front of the judge. My cousin got off.

You'd think the harassment would have stopped, but there isn't logic with some small-town sheriffs. There's a certain ego and feeling of empowerment.

After that, he harassed the hell out of my cousin. It wasn't even subtle. Lasted for years.

That's what's going on with UT. NCAA felt like we didn't suffer enough for Pruitt. They tried to make us pay and we made them look like lying idiots to the 'judge' and through the media. So now they want us to unofficially pay for Pruitt as well as NIL lawsuit.

On these penalty issues, UT needs to pull together the statistical argument as well as video footage of what's not being called. Send them to the Tennessee AG, cc-ing the NCAA and several of the biggest media outlets. That's such a huge story (a major NCAA state university pressing unfair treatment to their state AG), the media would have to cover it. Not to mention, the state AG has already shown a willingness to go after the NCAA.

If the TN AG pressed it legally, that gives us discovery. No telling what shows up if communications have to be provided and people have to go under oath. I'd say the NCAA wouldn't want that.

The only thing you can do with the NCAA, when they think they are the highest power in the land, is show them the higher power.
The NCAA is dead, we were just the last nail.

The way some individuals turned on Nico and CJH this past Saturday is sickening. Everyone hyped Nico up before start of season and now he is struggling in his first season as a college QB, now the narrative went from he will be the best QB ever at TENNESSEE to Nico just isn't what everyone said. Good grief.

BTW: I may carry water for the officials but I would NEVER turn on the Coaches or the Players of the team I pull for. Also, I don't care what these players are getting paid they're still 17-21 year old young men.
I have sat in that stadium for many years and one thing I know, sixty percent or more of the people there don’t have a clue or are to drunk to stand erect and won’t remember the game.

I've never understood why so many have to be drunk to watch a football game. Can't handle the stress? Probably some of the same ones that get on these forums and spout a bunch of stupid crap.

Everybody in this fanbase needs to watch and internalize this. It is not and has never been the scheme, we are just not executing right now, mainly Nico and the Tackles. It is what it is. Hopefully it improves.
Exactly. Though it seems to not dawn on some posters until an "analyst" says it.

All I can say, once again, is trust your eyes. There are receivers open on nearly every play. Some are in check downs or short patterns. Nico is not seeing them, not wanting to throw it to them, or inaccurate. As the pocket collapses, sometimes too soon due primarily to OT play, he panics. This is all fixable by the staff. Nico needs to play more and the game needs to slow down for him. He needs to execute how he has been coached. Heup can simplify the reads as he did in OT against UF until he figures it out.

The OT's need to get their footwork right and be helped by chip blocks outside as needed. If these two cannot do it, put in the next guys. Competition has a way of improving performance. The interior O-line need to stand their ground and not create lanes for rushers by helping the OT's until they know for sure no rushers are entering their assigned area.

The ultimate goal is still in sight.

“The one thing you got goin in yo life that you can obviously make some money off of”

Did he just call his kids stupid and incapable of being successful of anything but football?
When they win, he takes the credit.

When they lose, it’s everyone else’s fault.

This is Deion to a T.
