Recruiting Football Talk VIII

They’ve proven they can do it before. I don’t think it says as much about leadership as it does personnel and more so coaching (specifically- how to adjust to what the opposition is doing and also to cater to your personnel and put them in the best position to succeed - regardless of what your scheme typically needs).

Let’s see what happens before casting indictments.
I think team needs to smell blood, and attack.

Id like to see that emotion in 2nd half vs Florida, for 60 minutes.

My point was I know Hubbs is a wet blanket. But sounded like he was trying to tamper our expectations. Nuts! Play to win.

I know I'm redundant but I swear if Tennessee would play a tougher OOC schedule they would be more mentally prepared for these grind it out games in SEC. Competition only makes you better in the end.

I think with NIL, shortened practice time, scrimmage time, and recruiting times getting mashed down having a scrimmage is important both for schematics, coaching, and bringing freshmen up. Else playing two MAC opponents does nothing for long term.

The execution of Marie Antoinette

Born 1755 in Vienna, at the tender age of 14 Marie Antoinette marries heir to the French throne Louis-Auguste, who later became King Louis XVI of France. The jovial Marie soon falls into disfavor at the court. Demonstrating little interest in the ceremonial conventions of courtly life, she occupies her time with balls, fashion matters and imaginative hairstyles. Her decadent lifestyle also quickly draws the attention and displeasure of the French people. Upon hearing of the people's uprisings, of their hunger and poverty, she is said to have uttered a sentence that has gone down in history: "The people have no bread? Then let them eat cake."

It is only in 1789 at the beginning of the French Revolution that Marie Antoinette becomes politically active, above all to preserve the throne for her children. As the situation worsens, the royal family attempt to flee abroad. But the people catch up with the coach in Varennes. Marie Antoinette is taken back to Paris with her family and placed under heavy guard.

Marie still manages however to write letters and smuggle them out, appealing to Europe's rulers to crush the revolution by force. The King's apathy leads her to take charge of all the negotiations. But her lack of both experience and accurate information make it impossible for Marie Antoinette to maintain a clear course.

All her efforts to save her family and the crown fail. The revolution can no longer be stopped. In 1793, following a show trial, Louis XVI is executed. In October of the same year Marie Antoinette is brought before the court. After a 15-hour marathon trial, she is unanimously declared guilty on all counts. The sentence was already clear before the trial began, the death sentence. Marie Antoinette walks to the guillotine composed and with pronounced royal dignity. On October 16, 1793, Marie Antoinette was executed in Paris at the Place de la Révolution, known today as the Place de la Concorde.

“Pardon me, sir, I didn’t mean to.”

Those were her last words.

Hubbs trying to soften the blow in 300000 words or less.

Ive said if this team cant get up for their biggest rival at home, esp how theyve played at late. It will be a huge indictment on leadership, and coaching if they lay an egg.

This Alabama team has holes. Our defense is very good, and physical. We can it finally take it to them. Run the damn ball.
What did Hubbs say? I guess I missed it somewhere…

Is the fanbase out here thinking we win by 80? What expectations need to be tampered? Everything I’ve read, be it national media, local media, or VN diehards on here, seem to all say pretty much the same thing: this game is essentially a coin flip. I don’t think this is a runaway game by either opponent and if I had to give an edge, I’d MAYBE say Bama just based on Milroe playing a tad, albeit small, bit more consistent than Nico and having more big-game experience. But even then, I don’t think Bama’s edge is much stronger than TN’s.

If our defense shows up (which it has all season so why not now?) and the offense plays just a tad bit better than Saturday, we can win this game.

Bull💩. WGWTFA

Remember.......Nico is our QB, he chose to be here. These players will figure it out. They are learning, growing. If it isn't this year, next year will be the jump.

I still think we can make the playoffs, big game this weekend, they are giving their all, least we can do it support them. The fans need to step up this weekend and make that place intolerable for the visitors. Bust their eardrums, remember that team gets frustrated on defense. Give em hell and watch them implode!

Go Vols!
That’s what I’m talking about. Wreck the Bammers, then take a can of whoop into the dog house. It’s going to be legendary.

He was also DeBoer's DC when he was head coach at Fresno State and he was on the defensive staff at Indiana when DeBoer was OC there. Inge should know DeBoer's offense and his tendencies really well.
Not to mention that Deboer is a pantywaist, limp wristed metro who gets pantsed and b2a by his own team and fans.

I read that as Hubbs not giving the staff any quarter or excuses. In the past he's always tried to say why crazy fan expectations are unrealistic. Now he is not calling for a blowout, but he's saying at home we should win. He will likely not say that against UGA on the road.

It's silly that you have to say something like this when the team is ranked #10/11 and is 5-1 with wins over Oklahoma & Florida. Just goes to show how dumb a portion of every fanbase is.

My bet is Arkansas & Florida turn out to be better than we think and we still have a lot of good teams to play.

This aint the old SEC. Every SEC team, every week can beat any other team. We won't be seeing many undefeated teams anymore. A 10-2 season will be as impressive as an undefeated season used to be. It's gonna take 2-3 years of seeing the conference eat itself for people to realize how tough it is now. I also predict a whole lot of crying by a whole lot of fanbases until this new reality sets in.
I think Arkansas beats Texas.

This game comes down to Nico and Milroe.

Milroe is all of ther their offense. Nico has not been enough of ours. Whichever QB makes the most plays likely wins.

Our defense can slow Bama, but we will have to score more than 20. IMO

Milroe has won these types of games. Nico has mostly flirted with losing them. That is not an indictment, but it is to say this will be the deciding game for our season and a potential coming out party for Nico.

Nico is rushed because the OL sucks, so he’s making quick decisions in a game that’s already moving too fast for him anyway. Then you add in WRs that are dropping the on target passes (especially Nimrod). It’s a domino effect in some ways. I believe Nico will continue to improve but we need drastic changes at the OL, and we need an elite WR.

We have WRs running wide open or breaking open all game. Execution just isn’t there.

Holeintheroof got me thinking, everytime Nico rolls out in the pocket and completes a pass it’s either been a holding call or illegal man down field. It’s beyond frustrating at this point. And I’m not one to blame refs, but it’s very noticeable this season for whatever reason.
What people chalk up to conspiracy theories are simply observations that develop into patterns. Eventually they are proven true or fall apart.

Unequal application of penalties is easy to prove with video and statistics even if the calls are somewhat subjective. Take the individual official and crew, look at the video of the call. Then see if they call the same way against other teams. If they let the same actions go against other teams, you have your proof. You can then drill down on which teams are most affected.

Enough posting of the video and stats on Vol X (twitter) and soon the investigative media analysts will be talking about it. It will take third parties to reveal because B-ham controls the information flow from the teams and officials.
