Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Moron Alert: What is coming out of the speakers on the field is the band and they are pointed towards the crowd. If we were trying create more noise on the field why would we point the speakers towards the crowd? Besides those speakers are too small, when the crowd is really rocking I can't hear the band (or anything else) and I sit 21 rows from the field.

Kentucky right now.

The band doesnt play over the speakers, the DJ plays over the speakers.
The band does indeed play over the speakers at every college game ive been to. Maybe UT has stopped since I last went to a game, but that's pretty common to have them play over the speakers so everyone in the stadium can hear them.

It very well may be the case. But, in my experience they dont. (even used to send a horn section to various parts of the field) so as to amplify the sound.

Again, i'm probably wrong. But ive never experienced that in my days. In fact, one of my biggest grumbles (old man rants) is the amount of excessive noise clashing between mr spinny discs and POTSL.

Desperate attempt on his part to absolve himself of his foolish statement on air. Unfortunately for him, he now looks even more foolish to anyone who realizes the purpose of the speakers.

There are microphones in the middle of the band.
When I was at the Arkansas game a couple weeks ago, the band was clearly being played over the speakers, but it definitely didn't seem like any other noise was. Granted they can probably engineer it to sound just like the crowd, but I could hear the band naturally and over the speakers and could easily tell the difference, I feel like it would be noticeable with crowd noise too.

Reactions: Orange.
Milroe, at least, was graceful enough to tell the truth and tip his hat. Good for him.

“We do got to acknowledge that it was a great crowd that we just played in front of,” Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe said. “One of the greatest crowds in the country."

(I don't know and can't vouch for anything else he might have said.)

Right.

If they played the crowd noise through the speaker you couldn't hear the band. Or the PA announcer. Or the official announce a penalty.
