Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Indiana HC Curt Cignetti: "I wasn’t going to take four or five years to win. Like, back in the day, you just try to build a program by your fourth year. Nowadays you’ve got to win now. ... I’m not used to *not* winning, so we were going to win now."

Cignetti might take Indiana to its first ever 10 win season in his first season, last season the Hoosiers finished 3-9…
I have a friend very close to that program. He raves about the guy. They will be heavily invested in NIL and the portal going forward because they know they have the opportunity to move the program forward now.

I think Seldon was always more of a projection guy with elite measurables. Heupel requires a high degree of precision from his RBs and poor Seldon, every time he'd start to make some head way, he'd get injured. Really unfortunate for that kid. He can be so damn good here.

WR talent is NOT dynamic. At all. No reason to have insane talent, and not use it. Which gets to 2nd grievance. Halzle does NOT prepare this offense. Game plans seem to be dook. I mean, two open dates...what the hell did they do?

Where is Nico running on 3rd down? Designed run on RPO? Throw on slant?

Our WR's are big and physical but no game changers. I dont know man. Got to find a way to insert some new looks.

Love the development of TE's though.
I thought the game plan was fine. Execution was lacking. Seemed to roll out Nico more and used the tightends a lot. Dropped passes and missed field goals killed us.

The WR struggle i have is Thornton not getting targeted more. He has been our most sure handed. Brazzel is good, but i think he has dropped or let slip the most balls. To be fair he's usually in a tough position, but man we need to start connecting more.
Brazzell need work on hand, and core strength.IMG_5728.gif

I just don’t understand this argument. Bru and Thornton are dudes that many, many teams would want on their teams. They played well. The issue is not talent- the issue is catching the football by others. We have guys running open- last night, against Bama, against UF, against Arkansas. Make the plays when they are there. They would be different games. I also saw some 2022 wrinkles last night that we haven’t seen much this year. Got TE’s open down the seam.

Maybe I’m watching a different channel than some of you.
