Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This game reminded me of some of the basketball games we have gathered to hate. We know we can play much better but struggle. Ultimately we win, survive and advance, and we are all the better for it.

I'd love to see us put it all together. Maybe we will. Right now we are hitting our head on the glass ceiling.

Well said.

The bad news is our receivers dropped three TD passes, Heup should be opening up the FG kicking sport competition this AM and we need a young RT to step up and take the position over. We need to bring the dumb penalties to an end. We need an OC who can adjust schematically and with play calling before half time, so that Heup can devote his full energies to being a HC.

The good news is Hep has openly stated most of those points - so he knows. They are not anticipating the opponents changing their schemes/play calling from past games well. Bad first halves happen as a result, we have an observable pattern as a result. He knows we should have easily scored over 40 points, which would have taken the D out of some tough situations and play less snaps. Who the FG kicker and RT are, can and should be fixed.

Still have not played a complete game and they are 7-1 with all the NC dreams in full view. We have a roster full of hard playing, talented winners with a strong coaching staff. I like our chances if they make progress on those points.

Then you look around the country and see what other teams lost, and you appreciate your victory (I guess some would call it a non-loss) a little more.

I guess that leg of the race was through a mine field. Glad we made it
Lived through too many losses not to cherish every win. Even the ugly ones.

WR talent is NOT dynamic. At all. No reason to have insane talent, and not use it. Which gets to 2nd grievance. Halzle does NOT prepare this offense. Game plans seem to be dook. I mean, two open dates...what the hell did they do?

Where is Nico running on 3rd down? Designed run on RPO? Throw on slant?

Our WR's are big and physical but no game changers. I dont know man. Got to find a way to insert some new looks.

Love the development of TE's though.

I mean blame the execution, but we had 2 or more tuds dropped in the 1st half. We are snake bit honestly. Either we don't block, don't pass, or don't catch, but never the same recipe.

We are as consistently inconsistent as any team i can recall. It reminds me a little of that one Kiffen team. Spouts of excellence mixed with episodes of Mt Cody.
