I have a solution. . .I can’t believe I’m saying it, but I’ll be rooting for the NCAA in this Diego Pavia case. If he succeeds, college sports is dead. NIL? Okay. Transfer portal? Okay. Unlimited transfers? Okay. But unlimited eligibility???? No.
That is the death of college sports. Not to mention how many high school players out there will lose opportunities if people never matriculate out and move on to professional sports (or the real world).
Start a new pro league. Each college will have their own pro team. Players who don't make the NFL or need more time to develop into an NFL player can play for the school's team.
The infrastructure and stadiums are already built, the players are already available, the fanbase is already there too.
Have the season start in the spring, around March. Championship game in June.
Each team can only use players that graduated from their school, unless the player has been in the league for 5 years, after 5 years they can bet traded/drafted etc.
I'd definitely watch a Vols' pro team.
