Recruiting Football Talk VIII

What a dramatic situation.

If two players are fighting why cant they just break them up. Sounds like a bunch of pooswahs.

'Turn this plane around, you two 18 year olds have completely taken over us adults.'
I’m pretty sure when those guys started having an altercation the crew, not the coaching staff or Auburn affiliated personnel, made the decision to land… and it’s 100% the decision they have to make.

I love it but I’m about ready to upgrade to a full deal offset
I love mine too, it’s versatile and I’ve even used the gas burner section for smoking smaller, shorter-duration meats. I just light only the left burner on low with wood pieces above on the cooking grate, and place my protein on the right side. Works really well.

As for real deal, my father just picked up an Old Country G2 a couple months ago and really likes it.

understood. I know jack squat about avionics, flying (a plane), or its rules.

Leaving for Knox in the morning and driving up from Memphis. I haven’t been since Florida 2022. I’m really excited to catch a night game in Neyland.

I’m staying near market square and I haven’t frequented that area in the past. What are the best restaurants and bars? I’m bringing my friend, that’s a Miss St grad, and I want to show him a good time.
Probably too late but would recommend Vida, Emelia and Stock and Barrel

UT - 35
Notre Dame - 34

One of the greatest comebacks in Tennessee football history has simply become known as "The Miracle at South Bend". On Nov. 9, 1991 Coach Johnny Majors led his 13th-ranked Volunteers into Notre Dame Stadium to take on Coach Lou Holtz and the No. 6 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. It was the sequel to the classic Vols-Irish contest in 1990, the year before, when Tennessee's bid to upset the No. 1-ranked Irish fell just short 34-29 at Neyland Stadium. The Irish roster was loaded with future NFL players including Jerome Bettis, Rick Mirer, Rod Smith, Rodney Culver, Tony Brooks and Aaron Taylor.

Tennessee fell behind 21-0 in the first quarter and trailed the Irish 31-7 in the closing minutes of the first half. Notre Dame lined up to kick a field goal that would have made the score 34-7 at halftime, but linebacker and kick-blocking specialist Daryl Hardy blocked the attempt and fleet-footed defensive back Floyd Miley scooped up the football and raced 85 yards for a touchdown to give the Vols a little life, 31-14 at the half. The momentum from that game-changing play carried over to the second half as Tennessee's offense got on track scoring 21 points, while the defensive held the Irish to just a field goal.

The Vols completed the comeback in the fourth quarter when running back Aaron Hayden caught a screen pass from quarterback Andy Kelly and coasted 26 yards for a score. John Becksvoort's PAT made it 35-34 Tennessee with 4:03 left in the game. There was one final miracle needed, however, as Notre Dame frantically and methodically marched down the field in the game's final moments. With four seconds left from the UT 9-yard line, defensive back Jeremy Lincoln partially deflected the 27-yard field goal attempt to preserve the Vols miraculous, hard-fought, dramatic victory. Kelly was 24 of 34 for 259 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Kelly spread the ball around to eight different receivers in the game. Hayden was Tennessee's leading rusher with 82 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown along with two receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown. The linebacking trio of Ernest Fields (13 total tackles), Shon Walker (12 total tackles) and Hardy (10 total tackles) led the defense.

PS:

Bring back these uniforms

I watched this game in Cancun, shortly after a recent hurricane had come through, while celebrating our honeymoon.

Great memory watching the Vols storm back while hanging out in the hotel bar!

I know everyone is in football mode but the Volunteers play at Louisville at Noon on ACC Network.

Vols Basketball is in go mode today..
Good call.

Noon games are trash anyway, so I can watch MBB unabated, then roll into UGA-Ole Miss @ 3:30...Vols beatdown of the Bulldogs begins at 7, Bama-LSU elimination game 30 mins later. Auburn-Houston MBB nightcap to boot.

That’s actually a great idea. I’ve never thought of doing that

Wilkerson calls Knox Catholic football games. I've heard his calls twice and he's not too bad. I listened a couple of weeks ago and it was much better than the 1st time. He's not as smooth on football as he is on baseball. I think he would struggle with basketball.

Mike Keith should be the 1st call.

*I've been working and just responding to alerts. Has anyone mentioned the guy that does Miss State games? I think he's from the mid state of Tennessee and I think he's pretty good.
I think Wilkerson does basketball when both teams play on the same day. I bet he calls the Louisville game today.

I remembered Wilkerson calling a preseason tournament for VOLS Basketball. I'm pretty sure it was the "Battle for Atlantis" a few years ago.

Normally I won't miss a game and I'll watch them on TV, but we had something going on that weekend. 🤔
