Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I really disliked the long discussion by the announcers about the possibility of Tennessee missing the cut because Nico might be out / injured player. It's just bs. First, they don't know he's out. Second, they don't know we don't beat Georgia anyway.

But, third, and most important by far: They are encouraging what I have always resisted. Fans as a result are incentivized to root for other teams' players (not just to lose) but to be seriously injured. Are we supposed to root for an injury to Milroe? Is that what they want? I'd rather just beat him like we already did.

Dead on here

If anybody has any backwoods, voodoo, high risk high reward cures for a concussion, please send them to to Nico with any relevant shopping lists. This is the only exception to the rule of never messaging players on Twitter.

You’d get some funky inclusions.
And the SEC getting completely shafted.

Here's the thing about "committee bias". Are their some teams that could hypothetically be favored over us on bias and off-field influences? Yes. Are there way more teams that we would be picked over based on bias and off-field influences. Also yes.

Networks with a narrative. It’s how these selections play out.

I’ve said my piece about prior playoff selections. Watch how Bama gets so much love even though we beat them.

Eh, I understand the sentiment. But the announcers get paid to discuss the narratives

The QB of the #7 team in the country is a pretty big story and narrative.

Fans are gonna do what fans do, like they did before the CFP committee. Not sure that’s really germane.
