Recruiting Football Talk VIII

You want the AP poll to decide the champion?
I mean, yea, kinda.
I just think it should still be an “amateur” sport.

It’s complicated. I get how much money is involved, but generating more money doesn’t necessarily make things better.

It complicates things. ‘Ole D4H got on me last night about being an egalitarian liberal…..
I do believe that if you have 130+ FBS teams, then there should be equal fairness/opportunity for all of them…….just like the NCAA bball tournament and other NCAA championships.

If you are a member institution and have no chance of vying for a championship, then why belong to that division.

I know that WKU, for example, has no real chance at winning the CFP, but if they win a FBS conference championship, then they should be given the opportunity.

The FCS playoffs have this format. The pioneer conference teams don’t even give athletic scholarships, and yet their champion plays in the playoffs. Are there blowouts early in the “tournament,” yea, but at least they have an opportunity.

Now……if real fairness is what is wanted, then just have the 60 odd P4 teams have their own league and exclude the rest.

I admit I like the old way of maybe having a split NC like has happened many times in the past. It’s not a popular opinion, but it’s mine.

What’s going to happen down the road, is schools are going to get left out, and programs are going to be dropped, leaving kids nowhere to play. Fewer programs mean less kids playing. Less kids playing college football will mean less playing HS, which will affect the caliber of talent.

Just an opinion of mine. If nobody else agrees with me then it’s fine. I’m not going to say that anyone else’s opinions are wrong or stupid, ever. College football used to be so unique, so different than any other sport, but money has made it just like everything else.

Maybe the relegated format is the best way to go? I don’t know……

End rant……Beat UGA

The sport has never been fair. I'm with Pate on just giving the G5 their own playoff.

I like these guys data, but I loathe their takes on us versus other teams with similar flaws. They selective use ole miss defensive metrics to try and say why they won but we won't. Then gave us no credit for shutting Milroe down instead making it about him playing bad.

I so bad want us to handle business to shut all this nonsense up. I am absolutely sick of the disrespect.

They even misquoted their own model or failed to update it to the public. Stupid.

Is it "fair" to tell those with resources that they can't use them? Is it "fair" to tell athletes that, even though they are the workhorses that create the income, they can't be paid for their work?

Me thinks this word "fair" is being abused by looking at it from only one angle.

Something else to consider, Kirby Smart is going to go extremely vanilla if they build a lead. Hard to see him take risks at turning the ball over with his QB knowing Vols offense is struggling, especially if Nico is out.

So it will almost certainly be a close game. Which gives us a chance. A lot of analysts saying they don't see either team scoring 20+. Georgia cannot run the ball and Tennessee stops the run better than anyone. Georgia needs to force turnovers in short field and Beck needs to not throw picks. We need to protect the ball and run the ball. Connect on a couple deep passes. Force turnovers.

Press the kicking game here is where the breaks are made.

Sadly we just lost our cat. She was a sweet girl who lived in the office. Loved to lie on desks, especially on work that was getting more attention that she was. Hang out in people's in-boxes. Steal paperclips and build little piles of them in strange places. Chase balls down the hallway. Make dramatic entrances and sneaky exits.
Weird way to describe your secretary. Good luck with the interviews.

Jokes aside sorry for your loss

So what's everyone's guess? Nico or no Nico Saturday?

Barring a setback, my guess is that he plays.

I do think a legitimate concern is with that this is a night game. Every big time program has light shows, strobe lights, etc. Even if he clears concussion protocol, could something like that mess with him? Not saying it would but definitely something I’ve wondered about.

On a separate note, I know 95% of people love the light shows and strobe lights after scores…put me in the 5%. Hate them.
