The last RB to win it all was DH and he put up 189+ yards in 5 of his 7 last games heading into the Heisman. Sampson's career high is 149...

Voters care about volume carries and yards. And we're not a workhorse style offense. Never will be.

We could have run it up on FL, UK, and Bama if we could just stop shooting ourselves in the foot on offense. We do that and all this playoff gnashing of the teeth is moot. For all the talk about quality wins and bad losses and blah blah blah, this is still a damn beauty pageant, and an offense that can’t get out of its own way is ugly.

Hey @Devo182 I’ve been in town for Helene work and was wondering what part of the area you are. Looks like a war zone in some areas along Swannanoa and French Broad river basins.

Live downtown. Work out past Black Mountain headed east.

Yup Swannanoa got rocked. And if you drive down Swannanoa river near Biltmore Village, dear god it's like an acopalypse still. Signs reading "gas explosions, stay away" and flipped over tankers, cars, flattened buildings, just nuts still in some areas

Thanks for whatever you all are working on, Engineer. Just read today it's going to cost the region 250bb in recovery. Every helping hand helps. There's not that much money in this area to ever recover organically. And PLEASE go take in a bite to eat and support any local restuarants, venues, businesses you can while around. Businesses are dying by the day.

Very true, i do think there's something to be said for how that type of back is a dying breed at both levels. Henry is one of a kind obviously and still doing it, but most backfields have some type of carry sharing and load management now.

That season, Henry averaged 5.6ypc. Sampson is currently averaging 5.6ypc. Jeanty is currently averaging 7.7ypc.

Jeanty and Henry average(d) more touches per game than Sampson is. I think 10 years ago Sampson is probably getting 5-10 more touches per game and he would FIRMLY be in Heisman talks.

It's hard to justify Sampson winning over Jeanty is it was a contest between the two, RIGHT NOW, bc of the stats, but if Sampson has a massive game on this massive stage I think it would at least get him to New York.

Something else to consider, Kirby Smart is going to go extremely vanilla if they build a lead. Hard to see him take risks at turning the ball over with his QB knowing Vols offense is struggling, especially if Nico is out.

So it will almost certainly be a close game. Which gives us a chance. A lot of analysts saying they don't see either team scoring 20+. Georgia cannot run the ball and Tennessee stops the run better than anyone. Georgia needs to force turnovers in short field and Beck needs to not throw picks. We need to protect the ball and run the ball. Connect on a couple deep passes. Force turnovers.

I would have a similar game plan as MSU…shut down the passing game at all cost. Be willing to give up a run here and there, but feel like we don’t have to go all out to stop the run, and know we can stop at any time if need be.
