Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I listened to that game on the radio. No TV for this one. I remember only because my mom was standing in the living room yelling at the stereo, and I, 13 at the time, asked her what she would do if I went to Ole miss... Then she yelled at me. 😂

We wound up attending that liberty bowl game against Minnesota... Good times.
It was cold here that day and I didn't play golf. I listened to the game on the radio as well................and went to the Liberty Bowl... Very good times

Sooo....

We like LeBron now?
No lol

That “endorsement” won’t do anything. It’s just a cool moment….I guess at minimum it lets everyone know where Knecht came from.

Now if KD would’ve said this, that means more considering he actually played for Barnes. You know, Knecht’s favorite player…

Need to get KD down on a visit for a game and let recruits see him at a Vols game (won’t ever happen though lol)

With Gruden confirming his interest in the HC job at UT..................

Could he be angling for the Voice of The Vols job??????????

🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔

I kid!!!!

So far the transfers for the basketVOLs and how I grade them

Chaz Lanier = A
He's leading the team in PPG with 16.7, he's shooting 54.3% FG, 58.8% 3PT, and 100% from the line. Only reason he's not an A+ get at this point is he's really not adding much else so far. Just 1.3 rpg, 1.7 apg and hasn't made a steal or block.

Felix Okpara = B
8.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.3 bpg and he's shooting 64.3% FG and a big surprise to me is he's hitting 70% FT. He's only a B at this point because with him playing so many minutes I'd like to see his rebounding closer to 8 a game. But I think once he is back to 100% health we'll see that.

Igor Milicic = B-
11 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.0 apg and he's shooting 60% FG, 37.5% 3PT and 85.7% FT so why so low? Well the bulk of his numbers came against Montana...but if we get more of that throughout the season he'll quickly be an A or A+ transfer

Dubar = N/A
I'm not going to give him a bad grade yet...mainly because I don't know what the situation is. He's still on the team and once back up to speed I think we'll get a chance to see what he can do. So N/A for now or TBD I guess would work as well.

Not got much negative at this point to say...team looks like they're getting better as they play together. I thought we'd be overall deeper than last season offensively and we are. Biggest surprise I guess is how good Cade Phillips has looked. You continue to get 18 mpg out of him with 5.7 ppg and 4.3 rpg as your 4th option in the frontcourt and that's a damn good sophomore campaign. His minutes may dip with JP getting back to full strength and if Dubar starts contributing. But they'll have to earn those minutes cause Cade is a dude!

I really like Milicic's game. He makes many intelligent decisions and seems to be solid on both ends of the court. I look forward also to the continued development of our other players. Phillips seems quite athletic but not quite developed enough (still out of place at times). Estrella shows potential but still not impacting the game like I want to see. Carr is also like Phillips in that you can see his athleticism but he also needs to raise his Basketball IQ.

Yeah and that's a benefit of the experience guys we brought in. Chaz and Igor especially are high IQ players especially on offense. They're going to help Cade and Carr develop in that area and of course ZZ, Gainey and Mashack are elite leaders and teachers for this team as well.

The flag is there because we have a photogenic flag. Hollywood loves using it and if you ever look at the other state flags it’s not a surprise why TN and TX get used as much as they do.
Ever seen this one? It’s the original state flag. It was only in use for about 5 years. The 16 represents us being the 16th state.
