Recruiting Football Talk VIII

CRB has a loaded basketball team. Scoring options are greatly improved as a unit and they always play good D. Stronger in the paint as well. Just need to keep playing and getting in sync with each other. Could be a special season.

Diamond Vols are loaded again as well. Expect them to have a great shot to get back to the CWS.

Lady Vols are greatly improved. The difference CKC has made in such a short time on the court and in recruiting would make Pat very proud.

The football program has improved greatly as well under Heup. We moan and groan on here, but just a few years ago we would have been ecstatic to be in this position to compete to get into the playoffs with only two losses. This program was gone. Still overcoming scholarship losses, talent issues, inexperience and some coaching deficiency. Heup knows what to do. The future is bright. Just win out today and against Candy, get some help and see what happens.

Great time to be a Vol fan!

The amount of money an individual has to blow on what accounts to nothing, is staggering. His choice. Completely get that.

Maybe he is feeding less fortunate families in meantime, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You are correct, it's his money to spend as he wishes. What you don't know here is he may spend 10x or more of your and my salaries on feeding less fortunate families.

You and I spend money on things that others would feel would account to nothing. That nice outing with the wife to an expensive restaurant when you could have sat at home and made bologna sandwiches. It's all about scale.

See, you don't understand though...

It's critical to virtue signal about unrelated stuff to strangers on the internet.

100%

Dont eat balogna. But get the point. Just cant imagine having pissed away that kind of money on all that, crazy.

Like find your favorite 4 or 5, protect yourself and all that.

Tennessee is not a huge draw nationwide like Alabama and Texas are. We have a very loyal and rabid fanbase that spends ridiculous time and money but that doesn't translate outside the South really. Teams like Michigan, Ohio St, Penn State, Oregon, USCsr, have big followings throughout the country. That includes the South because half of their population has moved here. That translates into tv ratings.
Even back in '98 the there were tv people who were unhappy that Tennessee was in the BCS championship game because they thought interest in the game would be less aka tv ratings. They would have much prefered FSU vs OSU. And the money is far bigger now,
Our games consistently have very high viewership numbers. They keep pointing it out on our big games. I would think that would make a difference…

This is true, but i can tell you what he chooses to brag about on the internet. And it sure isn't feeding hungry people. And that tells me a lot.

Maybe so. But, think difference is I realize I have my own imperfections, and issues. Like posting on VN too much, for example. Maybe it is virtue whatever, maybe not. Dude put his downstairs out there for public view, he wanted attention.

Whether or not it could be used for betterment. What is the motivation to have hundreds, or thousands of weapons?

Not a good look, imo. Listen, this isnt a rant on ownership. I respect that many of you on here own, and are proud of that fact. Before this gets moved, hope each and everyone of you has a great Saturday. Enjoy the early kickoff, further, beating a inferior opponent.

That's enough interwebs for me for a while, lol. GBO.

Big 10 is going to get 3 in just bank on that. Oregon, Penn State and Ohio State...Indiana would have to either have 1 loss (in Big 10 title game) OR be undefeated to get in.

SEC is going to get at least 3 teams in as well, unless something crazy happens with upsets they'll likely have 4 or 5.

Big 12 is probably only putting in 1, BYU losing to Kansas forced them to need to win the championship to get in.

ACC is 1 or 2, I don't think SMU gets in with 2 losses unless they're the champion. Miami and Clemson got the best shot...Clemson is out if they have 3 losses though

The "highest rated Group of 5" champion is where it gets real muddy. Army and Boise State both have a chance to get there, Boise State is being rewarded a lot for their close loss to Oregon. But if Army beats ND and then Tulane in their title game is that enough for them to leap frog a 1 loss Boise State and/or will both be given a spot?

We're 11th but "first team out" because of that Group of 5 automatic bid.

This week the wins that help us the most.

(very possible to happen)
Army beats Notre Dame
Arizona State beats BYU
Ohio State beats Indiana (blowout fashion)

(would be upsets but would help majorly)
Oklahoma upsets Bama
Kentucky upsets Texas
Florida upsets Ole Miss
For the chaos that would ensue, I want all of the upsets.

For Tennessee, it would be great to have the last 3 games listed to happen that way.

Of course the clowns on the CBS Sports Network have already made excuses for Baylor, have spent the entire time breaking down what the loss means for Baylor, and haven’t said a damn complimentary thing at all about Tennessee. No respect in basketball. We never get it.
That was a terrible broadcast last night. Said Milicic went 0-2 on his first free throws (1-2), started making excuses early and often for Baylor, talked about everything but the game several times. Reminded me of something done by a local TV station.

a VolTube legend passed last night, his daughter setup a gofundme for the expenses. If you can, please donate to it 🙏
RIP BVD. I've checked in on his channel every year or so for the past 15 years after his video reacting to the blocked FG vs Bama went viral in 2009. An old-school YouTuber with a ton of love for the Vols.

I remember discovering him after he recorded a video of our hs team getting smacked by his team (greeneville). His reactions were always funny

It does make a difference and it’s crazy we have ppl on this board that see (or haven’t seen) the viewership numbers for our games and still have this opinion we are not a big draw. Not only is it outright wrong to suggest but just plain ignorance 😂

We literally have some of the highest audience shares this year and every year.

We can’t simply win out and get in. Not based on these rankings.

Someone above us has to lose.

It really needs to be Alabama or Ole Miss - those are the only teams losing that guarantee us jumping in.
Let’s have both lose today. Let’s throw in a letdown game for texas too. I’m totally irrational right now. Let’s just have some good things happen for Tennessee and bad things happen to those above us. I don’t care about other conferences. I prefer as few SEC teams as possible in the playoffs as long as Tennessee is one of them. 😈

The more non SEC teams, the easier our path to the championship will be. Have to play indiana and penn state you say, abso-frigging-lutely! Championship game against anyone else is just fine. 🤠

I want as much chaos today as possible with Tennessee winning by at least 60 points. Have Nico play through the 3rd quarter and work on all the plays that were drops or overthrows.
Let Sampson score 5 rushing touchdowns. I really want him to have the single season all time TD record. If he could do it during the regular season! Then pad the # during the playoffs! 🤠

UT - 42
Kentucky - 0

Leading Kentucky only 6-0 at the half, Darryl Dickey led the Vols to 22 3rd quarter points with his three TD passes (2 to Tim McGee) and finished the game 11-17 and 182 yards. Dickey was named AP and UPI Southeast player of the week. With the 42-0 victory in Lexington, the Vols inched closer to the SEC Championship.
