Recruiting Football Talk VIII

SIAP, but this was from the War Room last night about the reaction around college football to our Pilot sponsorship deal. I know some will never be pleased and will always look for reasons to be angry at DW for any change at all, but this should instill extreme confidence in how he is operating. He’s the cream of the crop.

Colleagues from around the country in the college athletics world have reached out to Tennessee and to the Vol Network to congratulate them and learn more about how they landed corporate money without changing the name of their stadium.

For schools like Texas, whose stadium is named after legendary coach Darrell Royal, getting corporate money and not changing a name is the goal. It’s a concept Tennessee delivered on before anyone else and many are trying to figure out how they can do the same.

Sloppy and lethargic. Heavy legs. Point of camp where people are tired of hitting each other and ready to move into game prep.

Lance Heard looked good getting back out there. Held his own against a good DL.

Seems like Elarbee wants Karic to take the LG job.

Merk is going to be a nice football player. Probably not here but he’s a legit power 5 starter.

Obviously has been mentioned but Donte Thornton had a nice day and got behind the DBs a few times.

Boo and Harrison both played well at Star.

Bishop is going to be a nice player for us.

Satterwhite seems to be locking into the C spot behind Mays. Hes probably too light right now to get real minutes but good sign for next year. Davis would slide over in a pinch if needed. Davis is valuable player for versatility but I worry about anyone on our OL (sans LG) going down,

Excited about both corners. McMurray will be solid too.

S needs to get figured out but we’re committed to rotating it seems.

Arion Carter is playing some really high level football right now. Think he has a shot at being our best LB in awhile.
Pumped.

Drury is the chain that we look for when booking hotels. With 4 kids, they offer suites, but they also offer happy hour and a good breakfast.

We stayed at a Drury in downtown Pittsburgh for the UT game. It was an old bank building. My dad traveled in the corporate world for years, staying at hotels. He just recently mentioned how that Drury in Pittsburgh was a nice hotel with great food/happy hour.

I choose between Hilton and Drury. I have a Hilton honors membership card, but I also have Drury rewards too. I’m partial to Drury, but there’s unfortunately not as many locations as Hilton branded hotels.

I love that Drury has the complimentary hot breakfasts, complimentary dinner, two drinks of choice per day, and the 24 hour soda fountain. The amenities that Drury offers is second to none, compared to other chains.

I think a lot of our success and success around the league is largely predicated on 2 things none of us have control over.

1. Schedule
2. Injuries

The portal has made most everyone more talented, but less deep or experienced.

Mizzou and Ole Miss have advantages over us in schedule.

Texas is already down to their 3rd or 4th string RB I believe.

We need to handle business against OK and UF. If we drop either our playoff hopes are off. If we win both we still may need someone like Mizzou or Ole Miss to get snake bit. Or we will need to knock off AL or UGA.
Ehhh, screw it…let’s just go

16-0 🤠

Let the others struggle to survive.

If Boo is coming on, could we see Harrison slide to safety?

I was more of a Big Valley fan over Gunsmoke. Festus was a moron.
I loved both those when I was a little kid, like 5-7 years old. Back when it was ok for kids to have toy guns I would go around pretending to be Marshal Dillon. Dad would tell me I was too clumsy to be Marshal Dillon I had to be Festus 😂
