Recruiting Football Talk VIII

@utvolmaniac @MetalVolunteer @mrMet

Picked this up last night after a phone call.. I also got a bottle of EH single barrel. Had a bunch of stuff but I didn't go for some of it. He had:

Weller Full Proof
Elmer T Lee
Blanton’s straight from the barrel
Blanton’s gold

You appear to have had the same drop that we had in DFW this past Saturday. 1052 bottles which which included Weller 12, Weller Full Proof, Weller CYPB, Elmer T Lee, Blanton’s, Blanton’s Straight from the Barrel, Blanton’s Gold, Rock Hill, Old Fitzgerald, Russell 15, and Michter’s 10 (I believe). Store opened at 10:00 am. I arrived at 8:25 am and was about 350th in line. Cold and rainy. The Wellers (except the CYPB), Elmer T Lee, and Blanton’s were all that remained by the time I got in. The guy in front of me took the next to last Blanton’s Gold. I passed on the last bottle and took the Elmer T’s. Think it was 456 bottles of the Weller 12…glad I got there when I did and did not have to settle for one of those bottles.

Quite the journey he's been on
👀

My uncle lives in Fairmont, WV and said this has been the talk for the last 24 hours or so. He’s hoping it is Rich Rod.

I call on Fairmont. My Dad was offered a bball schollie there in 60's, played against Jerry West, who was from closer to Huntington. He and I both agree, WV has seen better years. Fairmont is such a neat town. Very unfortunate, could be a great City. Coal gets pulled out of WV and goes to OH and PA.

Belichick will be successful at UNC. He demanded they spend big on recruiting staff/scouting department his own on field staff as well as facilities and NIL

We shall ALL see. Starting with his staff, then his success in the NIL world but no draft. Can’t forecast what the HS kids will think about a guy who left NE in a big hurt, Brady years not withstanding. Trend analysis not so good, but portal changes a lot. Will surely be a study whichever way it goes.

I said toughest game. Reason why I said that is because:

1. 1st ever game in the CFP. Haven't sniffed the playoffs in 20 years outside of 2022 where we failed short.

2. We are on the road. Despite what ppl say we do have road woes under this staff. We have played well below are talent on the road. Many examples.

3. We lose, we go home. Simple.

4. We actually have a team good enough to win the game.

We play Bama and Georgia every year, very good teams. Difference now is (well atleast for me) I think we can beat Bama anytime we play them now. That's not a guaranteed lost anymore. It's a coin flip. We are 2-2 under Heup.

With UGA, we are not yet good enough to beat them at this point. Everyone had us losing to them coming into the year. They are just better than us right now. We haven't figured out how to score on them (17 most points scored on them under Heup). Every other team that we play regularly we scored at least 40+. UGA is not the toughest game because we probably going to lose that game unfortunately, and we all kinda know it. It is what it is for now but we are catching up. They are the new Bama to us, last dragon to slay.

So next Saturday's game is the biggest/Toughest game in our program history over since the 2007 SEC Championship game IMO. That's taking in account everything I mentioned above.
Not to mention a night game with temperatures expected to be in the 20’s.

Frost now Rich Rod?

You can go home again????

I think we will continue to see this trend of guys who had success at smaller schools then jumped to bigger schools are going back. Especially if they didn't have the same success at the next level.

Until the last few decades you could make any school a powerhouse if you were a good coach with a good staff. Then insane money went into the sport for coaches and facilities and I'd say from late 90s - 2010s if you were a good coach at a small school you almost COULDNT turn down an offer to jump. It was soooo much money and if you fail you walk away with tens of MILLIONS.

I think now that with more parity and conference restructuring guys are gonna stay at lesser programs (Matt Campbell - Iowa State) and guys who left are going to continue to start popping back up at their old spots and run it back.
