Recruiting Football Talk VIII

De'Vondre Campbell of 49ers committed a career ending mistake by walking off field after telling coaches he wasn't going into the game. Good grief..

I didn't realize Hunter's offensive stats were that good. I thought he played mainly defense and got a couple special plays in offense per game. . . shows how much I pay attention to the boffs

Last 2 games they kind of forced the issue.

8 receptions for 125 yards and 2 TDs at Kansas (they lost)
10 receptions for 116 yards and 3 TDs vs OK State

But he's earned a finalist nod imo easily. 7 games he went over 100 yards receiving, 9 games he caught at least 7 balls, and in 7 games he caught at least 1 TD

yeah I don't know if it will ever happen

but IF it does happen and we click, we are going to win it all

I think we have 2019 LSU in us, we just have to hit it
I personally don't think we will have to do anything special in this game to win. We will run the ball and play defense. Michigan can't throw the ball worth a flip, they ran a lot of inside zone and duo and pushed Blowhio around, nothing fancy.
On defense, Michigan was in quarters and cover 3 a lot, they played all day with light boxes and got pressure.
We love to run the same stuff, it is our bread and butter.
We play better defense than Michigan, and our offense is twice the offense Michigan has. In short...

Unpopular opinion Cam Ward has been around for 10 years and he still stinks.

Unpopular? More like inaccurate.

Dude is a baller and just wasted his time playing for bad teams.

66.1% 11091 passing yards 84 TDs to 23 INTs in his 3 years at the FBS level.

even at Incarnate Word in his 2 seasons there he was still balling. 63.4% 6908 yards 71 TDs to 14 INTs

UT - 28
Wisconsin - 21

As the Vols rolled into New Jersey to play Wisconsin in the Garden State Bowl, they were searching for their first bowl win since 1974. Trailing 7-3, Willie Gault returned a kickoff 87 yrds to give the Vols a lead they would not relinquish. Behind Steve Alatorre’s 315 passing yrds (1 td and a rushing td) and Anthony Hancock’s 196 receiving yrds (on 11 receptions), the Vols escaped with a 28-21 victory. Alatorre was named MVP!

Heck, makes VFLs get misty eyed regardless of when they see this.

Met a new occupational therapist today. Said that he was way more interested in pro sports than college.
I told him that I was the opposite and I went to Tennessee.
Interestingly enough he was born and raised a bama fan, but said all the bogus bandwagon bama fans really upset him because they were all so fake. Then said that he couldn’t stand ND because they get so much attention for so little actual quality. Then said the same about the longhorns. Just found it interesting that a true fan was tired of all of the crap fans.
I told him that I think DeBoer is gonna be a good coach for them (internally finishing that he’s not going to beat a CJH Tennessee team 🤠). Actually enjoyed talking to him. I now know two diehard bama fans who are also reasonable people…what’s the world coming to? Hell freezing over or the end? Figures, right when we start winning in every sport! 😎
The new reasonable Bama fan = Closet Vol. From here on out a lot of Bama fandom is just a cover to ensure survival, don't want piss pawpaw off.
SEC Shorts did a documentary on it once only about Tennessee fans.

If you were facing Tom Brady in a Super Bowl, you didn’t breathe easy until the last second ticked off the clock. That SB against the Falcons removed my last stubborn resistance against his GOATness. Pats stellar defense caved and it came down to making EVERY single play the rest of the way to pull it out. Go back to his first against the legendary Rams offense. What other SECOND YEAR quarterback in his first season starting is given the ball with the goalline right behind him and John Madden screaming to play for overtime…and then pulls out the win? No one else who has ever played for Belichick.

I dont know if its the Vol in me or what but I think Tn gets up on State early and keep the pressure on their QB then Tn wins the game. If they will call holding on their OL its going to be a long night for their QB. This is going to be the fastest and physical DL that State will have faced imo. I think Nico will be solid, he is getting more comfortable every game and at the right time.
