Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Who knew Pruitt was going to be right all along
True, he was the catalyst for the beginning of this.
Maybe Fulmer’s plan to destroy bama by stealing their dc eventually came to fruition.
The hiring of pruitt caused a series of events that were catastrophic on the surface, but glorious in the end.

Pruitt leaves bama: their bagmen became less effective. Not visible immediately but cracks in the veneer began to show.

Pruitt stupidly tries the same thing at Tennessee, fails miserably and to this very day cannot understand why his actions were legal at uga and bama, but not at Tennessee.

Pruitt gets fired for cause saving Tennessee Millions and even more by firing his staff as well. NCAA takes notice of this and wants their money.

Fulmer steps down in duress (on the surface while whistling Rocky Top throughout the process). Tennessee immediately hires Danny White the greatest AD in the history of ADs.

Danny White (or Fulmer) hires Rodney Garner because a moron didn’t keep him on staff. Possibly the most important move in the whole chessmatch.

Tennessee opens up the entire pruitt fiasco to the ncaa. The ncaa gleefully thinks that they can essentially give Tennessee the equivalent to the death penalty. Meanwhile back at Tennessee:

AD DW holds a smokescreen HC search getting “turned down “ right and left. Then in a desperation move he hires Coach Josh Heupel ( the hero we needed but we had no clue).

Now the ncaa decides to attack Tennessee once CJH gets rolling because Tennessee was supposed to flounder in the desert instead of embracing the new NIL situation and resurrecting the Spirit of the Volunteer Nation.

Little did the ncaa know, but Tennessee decided to tear down the iron curtain and take down the communist regime built by the ncaa and sankey. They were absolutely stunned when the State of Tennessee stood up and said ENOUGH! ncaa got their asses handed to them.

Now two short seasons later, Tennessee has won the CWS! Tennessee men’s basketball is ranked #1 and on the brink of a great year. The Tennessee women’s basketball team is righting the ship (with the hero that the old guard didn’t want 😎)! All of the other sports are flexing their muscles and getting to prominence nationally as well! Oh and the Football team is in the playoffs! (Despite every effort to deny that).

The absolute best part is that as Tennessee is ascending, both bama and florida are crumbling!

Once Tennessee runs roughshod through this playoff gauntlet, our return to power will be undeniable for any and all! (Part of the plan that kept bama out of the playoffs was for Tennessee to inexplicably lose to arkansas and then stumble against uga, if Tennessee was undefeated, bama would be in the playoffs. Sacrifices were made, the toughest playoff route given so that the 4 straight wins will appear miraculous. Do y’all really think that Nico could miss that many open receivers? 😳 If you have watched closely, the team never seems upset about the “drops” it’s almost like they are scripted to add to the drama.)

Meanwhile in Winchester Tennessee, Coach Fulmer is sitting back, drinking a whiskey and laughing quietly as his most devious plan succeeds far beyond his wildest imagination!

At least that’s how the movie script will go…

Meanwhile we’re all

14-2 🤠

Oh, and next year there’s no hiding it anymore and Tennessee football will begin a reign of terror that the college football world has never seen before. The difference is that we will be benevolent rulers (unlike the bamas, osu/michigans, usc/notre dames, uga/floridas have been). Just watch. Next year Tennessee will lead the charge of hiring permanent referees and officials for all ncaa sports. The officiating will have to be truly impartial or the conferences and ncaa will be held accountable.

16-0 🤠

Lol I know what statistics say. I thought you were asking what seems short to us? If you’re going by statistics then not muc of a question lol

5’9” seems short to me. I don’t say that disparagingly
I guess anything about 3" shorter than your own height starts to seem short. Imagine being 6'9" and thinking a 6'5" person is short, 😂. . . or being 5'1" and thinking 5'5" is tall.

I don’t mean this to be ugly towards you but when are we going to get over the BVS and this scared mentality of “oh no, we better not make the other team mad or they’re REALLY gonna take us behind the woodshed”? You think uga is worried about making the other team mad or fired up? We are back to being the bully. It’s time to get back to the mentality that other teams better be worrying about the University of Tennessee Volunteers!
A friend of my son in law bought my new granddaughter an Alabubba onesie. I told my daughter I was going to take it to Columbus and put it on the O, set it on fire, and piss on it to put the fire out. Is that a felony?
That same friend asked me if he could have one of my tickets for the Bama game. I told him he could if when we won I could put my cigar out on his forehead.
The heck with all these people who say we should play nice and not throw mustard. That rolling over like a scared pup crap is over now, let's piss 'em off. WGWTFA.

Great stuff Doc.

Andy Reid turned Pat MaHomes into a 3 time Super Bowl Champion.
John Harbaugh turned Lamar Jackson into a 2 time MVP.
Josh Allen has developed into the favorite for league MVP this season.

Eagles developed Hurts into a top 10 QB.

I could post more but I will just leave it at that..
Everyone of those examples flashed from the first time they stepped on an NFL field.

Our LBers better not screw up their run fits or Brooks/Turrentine etc are going to have to get those backs on the ground fast. One wrong angle and those two hosses can fly.
They can fly all they want if they don't have the ball. I think people are giving OSU and their unmatched NFL receivers too much credit. Measurables are not the same as on field results. The League values measurables not necessarily results. Will Levis says hi. We have handled receivers of the same caliber already.

Saw where Lebum stepped away from Lakers for “personal reasons”

That Diddy past catching up with him, I hope it comes out he was involved in some way. Everyone’s “best” player arrested 🤣
You really hope that someone was involved with something like that because you don't think they are as good at basketball as others do? That's pretty awful man

From my perspective, this is going to be the greatest 10 + years ever for THE University of TENNESSEE.
well, i think looking at the whole picture, not just football, it's hard to argue against that assessment. i tell people all the time how jealous i am of the students now vs. when i was there, and we were great at football back then...so i'm not necessarily complaining...but i can count on one hand how many basketball and baseball games i went to as a student....we were so mediocre, and the environments were waaaaay different.

i go back to knoxville a lot, or well, a lot for me anyway..2-3 times a year at least.....and over the last 10 years, to see how much has changed, most of which is so much better now, is really great to see. the campus is fantastic, the facilities, both academic and athletic are awesome....and i think the campus is just more inviting now than it has ever been.

and having all that TV money to burn, having elite athletics all the way around, enrollment is booming.....i mean Tennessee has always been "big time". but it's at another level these days.

very proud of my alma mater. Tennessee is cool again. and as long as we have the consistency of leadership, especially with this current group we have, i don't see that changing any time soon. Randy, Donde, Danny and all the coaches.....top notch.

@butchna

You think Josephs has played well enough to declare for draft? Not saying Joshua is but I believe he will, 3rd round draft pick imo..
I think he should come back and try to hit the 8 sack mark next year. He’s a hell of a player though, just think he can play himself into the 1st round next year with 10 more pounds and added pass rush moves.

I mean ESPN isn't picking the Heisman but they sure as hell are making it obvious.

Lead story on the NCAAF page is about Travis Hunter.

He's more than deserving, but goodness if he wasn't playing for Deion he wouldn't be there at all and we all know it. I do however find it a bit hilarious that his own son isn't present and the entire offense was designed around inflating Shedeur's numbers. 😂🤣

And before anyone comes at me, Hunter finished 5th in receptions with 92, 6th in receiving yards with 1152, 2nd in receiving TDs with 14. Then on defense he had 32 combined tackles, 1 TFL, 4 INTs, 11 pass deflections (lead Big 12) and 1 FF.

Neither of those stats would be enough alone, but since he accomplished both in the same season I completely get why he's there and if he wins I honestly won't complain.

BUT

If the Heisman is an award about recognizing the most outstanding player in college football...it's Ashton Jeanty. He has at least 1 game left and sits at 2497 rushing yards, 4th most by a RB in a single season. His 29 rushing TDs are the most by anyone in a decade and just 8 behind Barry's record. And because of his season his team is in the college football playoffs.

I mean, that's not true. Josh Allen was pretty bad his first year starting finished the season throwing 52.8% with 2074 yards and 10 TDs against 12 INTs. Yeah 2 he took off.
Pat MaHomes sat 15 of the 16 games his first year, but once he took over it was clear he was the dude.
Jalen was 52% for 1061 yards with 6 TDs and 4 INTs his first year...but by season 2 he took off.
Lamar Jackson really didn't become a legit passing threat until year 2 as well.

So every one of them was developed for at least a season before they started producing.

Bill B has no idea what sort of soup mess he's walking into with NCAA rules. Nor is he willing to go and recruit a bunch of 16 and 17 YOs.

All just to hand off a good job to his son.

Jmo but UNC shouldn't fall for this impending disaster. He isn't even going to be 1% as invested in this project as they will be...
I beg to differ.
